Mom wants teacher fired for using Ouija board with kindergarten students

MILWAUKEE — An outraged mother is calling on Milwaukee Public Schools officials to fire a kindergarten teacher who introduced the young students in her class to a Ouija board.

The mom, who asked to not be publicly named, said the game was used on Friday in her 5-year-old's classroom at Zablocki Elementary.

"They were shutting off the lights and making it dark and talking to spirits. That's not something that should be at school," the mother said of the game, which is said to be able to channel spirits.

In an email to the mother, the teacher said the Ouija board had been in the classroom since Halloween.

"The kids have been asking for a scary story and I got the board and moved the paper clip to answer some of their questions. They asked about scary characters in movies. I did not say there were spirits. It was all done in fun. I understand your concern. It was silly and I'm sorry. I will take the board home and this won't happen again," the teacher said.

The family said the children are too young to be exposed to the concepts of Ouija boards, and they believe the teacher should just stick to curriculum.

The 5-year-old is now having nightmares, the mother said.

"He's scared now to go to bed at night, to be in the dark, anything alone," she said.

MPS officials have not responded to a request for comment.

For her to feel evil tells me she can discern and sense Evil. Good for her.

Glad to learn that she will never touch that board. Growing up we had that board. Our house was filled with ghostly experiences almost daily, but I got used to it. One night I heard as if someone was dragging their leg on the carpet, then footsteps walking toward my bedroom as it reached the door, which was open. I felt a strong presence of Evil. I felt Darkness, mental oppression and more for there are no Earthly words to describe it. It kept coming close to me and I immediately remember what my mother taught me to rebuke it in the Blood of Jesus. So I had this strong fear so I told it “I rebuke you in the Blood of Jesus”! I kept repeating it as I was starting to show a sign of hyperventilation due to fear. After the 5th try I said “Jesus please help me”. Then suddenly I felt another entity come between us. I sense it was an Angel. Whatever this thing was it backed away and was afraid of the entity that appear between us. Then it went away, and I said “Thank you Jesus”. I do not ever want to feel that thing again EVER!

I think my brother’s abusive temper and having that board in the house contributed to it. After my mother died I tossed it out and never again do I want to see that board under the same roof.

It's absolutely astonishing to me how many people here are putting some kind of mystical supernatural power into a parlor game. Something I'd expect from my wife's ancestors (they were chasing witches in Mass way back when), but not in the 21st century.

I suppose a deck of Tarot cards would give them the vapors.

“The “teacher “ needs to be found face down in a ditch or hanging from a rope. Suffer not a witch to live, as it would be better not to cause one of these little ones to stumble.”

And Kenya has checked in.

While it’s true, it’s a board now made in China, there are a lot of people who are very upset by them.

A few years ago I had an antique ouija board someone gave me. I hung it on the wall with a number of other antique objects. I took it down after a couple of people almost had anxiety attacks when they saw it. I was surprised because I wasn’t familiar with them.

I had never heard of a ouija board until my church’s youth group leaders’ foster daughter brought one to a jr. high lock in at church. I was quite naive and didn’t understand the wickedness behind that “ game”.

Looking back, if I found out my kids were using that at church we would never darken the doorstep there again. I never told my parents.

But let’s apply reason here: if there’s any real connection with demonic spirits, you can expect deceptiveness, doubt and confusion.

If the government school is indoctrinating children in frank occultism and paganism, rioting and violence would simply play into the enemy’s hands. The best option is separation from the problem. But most Christians don’t want to hear that. Hand wringing, complaining (etc) is thought to be more effective

It all comes down to what are your basic philosophical assumptions.

If you’re a monist, meaning naturalist, then you’ve accepted the premise that everything is only material.

But if you’re a dualist, as are all Christians and others, you accept the existence of the spiritual realm.

By the way, monism has not been established by science or by any other process.

Ouija boards are like ghosts. If you don’t believe there’s no such thing. There are evil spirits, but they reside in human hearts, supplied by Satan. Maybe the belief is what puts them there.

For years I thought they were just silly, a game you played and one or the other person was subtly “pushing” to get the answers they wanted (about boys you liked, was there a ghost in the house?, etc.).
But I did have a VERY creepy, very real experience with the board a few years back, well into my grown-up years, and I wouldn’t touch one ever again.
I think it depends, and I believe it’s mostly benign — but there may be a lot on the other side of the discernible “physical” world that that we know nothing about. Maybe someone could be sitting in a weak area of the dimensions.
Demons aren’t pretend in the Bible.
Needless to say, silly or creepy, it doesn’t belong in a kindergarten class.

I’m 70. When I was a teenager, I had a Ouija board; didn’t
keep it long. I’d burn it if I still had it. It’s an evil
waste of time & starts people on the road to craving more
& more witchy crap. - I try to get shed of all negative
crap in my life. (It also tends to cause one to say “crap”
a lot. See? I’ve already said “crap” FOUR TIMES in just
this one post. :o(

Have used one, back when I was about 10 or 11. To my knowledge, I’ve not been possessed by spirits, nor have any of the cousins who used it. There were no sudden deaths or mysterious happenings in our family. Considering the size of our extended family, that’s amazing even without the board!

Teachable moment: sprinkle Holy Water on the teacher in front of the class... LOL

That is a PERFECT response! I LOVE it!

I used one in a drinking game with a couple tarts, once. It said “Yes”, “Yes”, all the time. Hmmm. Freaky!
