Anxious Couple Spends Thousands, Blankets South Bay in Yellow Signs in Hopes of Finding Missing Pup
NBC Bay Area ^ | 2/27 | Brendan Weber and Scott McGrew

"Our lives have been turned upside down and we're not sure what's next," one of the dog's owners said

A frantic couple in the South Bay has put their wedding on hold to blanket neighborhoods with yellow signs and pour thousands of dollars into the search for their beloved dog, who went missing on Feb. 13.

Trendee King and James Galley, who recently moved to the Bay Area from Southern California, dropped off their black and tan Brussels Griffon pooch named Theo at a national dog sitting service located near Blossom Hill Road and Almaden Expressway. The next thing they knew, he managed to slip out of a door and escape.

"Our lives have been turned upside down and we're not sure what's next," Galley said in an email.

King, who was in the midst of purchasing her wedding gown when Theo went missing, and Galley put a halt to their wedding preparation in order to search for their missing pup.

The worrisome owners have poured dollar after dollar into covering the South Bay with signs, and they even said they used six Bloodhounds in an attempt to track down the 12-pound Brussels Griffon with a snaggletooth. They are also offering a $3,500 reward.

"Theo is family and we're sinking our wedding savings into finding our beloved pup," Galley wrote.

Aside from the signs, the couple has littered social media with pleas asking for any information about Theo's location. King, who has more than 27,000 followers on her Instagram account, has plastered her profile with photos of the dog. Even an Instagram account with more than six million followers has joined in the search effort by sharing a photo of the yellow sign.

"People are supporting us because they know dogs are our best friends, our better halves, our kids," Galley wrote. "Sometimes they fill that void in your life, sometimes they bring two people closer together, and they always make your life better. It was clear that Theo brought my fiancée and I closer together."

Anyone with information about Theo's whereabouts is asked to text or call 310-663-2652.

There’s no indication that the dog is ‘holding them together’. It’s probably one of many things, which can be quite varied. But obviously it does mean a lot to them.

And the article doesn’t say they cancelled their wedding - they said they put the planning for it on hold. Apparently she was in the midst of purchasing the wedding gown.

I’m sure they’ll have a fine wedding; maybe a less expensive one without all the originally planned frills - but obviously the dog is more important than ‘frills’, if they’re willing to spend money on it. I find that a decent value.

Years ago, had an elderly land-lady who did a dozen meds at a time, several times a day. She was on oxygen, and used a lot of Kleenex. She was sweet, but loopy. She lived down on the first floor.
Went down and played Cribbage a couple of times a week. She had a parakeet named 'Ricky', who was free to roam, and he usually just hopped around, but could fly back up to his cage. When the old gal got out of her recliner to do anything, Ricky would hop up and start pulling Kleenex out from beside the seat-cushion where she stashed them, and would proceed to shred them. Made a heck of a mess.
One night when I got home late, she came out and asked me to help her find Ricky.

Yup, the stupid bird was on the chair shredding Kleenex (he kinda blended in with the tatters) and the loopy old gal just plopped down and squarshed him flat. Broke her heart. I dug a hole and buried him in a Kleenex box.
True story.

Which celebrity does Theo resemble? Ernest Borgnine?

I'm going to go with Luis Guzman. (Love him on Code Black.)

Please read what I posted because you are clearly NOT doing that.

I never said they canceled their wedding plans.

I said what the article stated, that they put their wedding plans on hold.

I’m no greek expert, but since the New testament was originally written in Greek, here we go.

There are two key words in these verses to look at. Creature or Creation uses the word “ktisis” and can mean either creation or creature. More modern translations of scripture refer to man in this context.

In verse 21, the greek word for Corruption is “Phthora” and in all eight times it appears in scripture, it refers to humans.

I’ll be totally honest, I don’t know Greek. I looked it up here: http://www.godandscience.org/youngearth/romans8.html. Provided that this scholar is correct, it leaves no other verdict than that the scripture you referenced is talking about people and not animals. Sorry

With a name like that, you know she’s hot!
With a fiancee that’s willing to pay $3500 to keep her happy, you know she’s hot!

Nitpicking alternate shades of meaning for a few words does not change the fact that the passages in question reference being made subject to vanity (futility) through no will (fault) of their own.

Does this describe man? No, it does not. It describes the rest of Creation.

Must have been their warped sense of humor that got the 4 banned.

1 probably got murdered for his warped sense of humor.

17 are now in the dog house for posting chauvinist comments.

I firmly believe a loving God has made a place for all the critters who once loved and were loved by a human. I KNOW all our dogs are waiting for us, healthy and young again. They never knew each other, except for the beagle and the AkitaX, but they are a pack because we loved them all and it was returned.

And, if they aren’t there, I don’t want to go. I will have a little talk with the Lord and he can send me on to wherever they may be.

And I know I am not alone in this.

Well, what is wrong with putting on hold, or interrupting, one’s wedding plans when a crisis arises?

You seemed to think that there was something wrong with doing that over ‘a dog’, and also seemed to assume that the dog was all that was ‘holding them together’. Quite an assumption, when you know nothing about these people except that they love and value their dog.

You seem to be conflating a simple human-interest story with issues that obviously concern you, but which are likely entirely unconnected to this case.

If a lost dog is enough of a crisis to put something as big as a wedding on hold, they have emotional issues, and if and when they get the dog back, some day it’s going to die on them.

Then what if they can’t handle simply losing it?

Revelation 19:14 "And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean"

There are,at least,horses in heaven.

"And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the Lord liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die" (2 Samuel 12:3)

King David,a man 'after God's own heart' pronounced death on someone who had taken a lamb from a poor man who treated it "as a daughter".

I'm doubting he would have felt the same way if that man had taken the poor man's broom.

I doubt very much that they have decided that the entire idea of wedding/marriage is now ‘up in the air’ simply because they’ve lost their dog. I think they’ve just interrupted their preparations, may reschedule things, etc.

There are a lot of shoddy journalists out there now, and this is a poorly written story. Perhaps we’ll hear more it.

My husband and I have had many dearly-loved animals die on us during our 23 years together. We’ve mourned for a while, and gotten more. They add to the joy of life, and the best way to keep love in your heart and life is to keep Giving it, wherever you can, in whatever way you are urged.
