Anxious Couple Spends Thousands, Blankets South Bay in Yellow Signs in Hopes of Finding Missing Pup
NBC Bay Area ^ | 2/27 | Brendan Weber and Scott McGrew

"Our lives have been turned upside down and we're not sure what's next," one of the dog's owners said

A frantic couple in the South Bay has put their wedding on hold to blanket neighborhoods with yellow signs and pour thousands of dollars into the search for their beloved dog, who went missing on Feb. 13.

Trendee King and James Galley, who recently moved to the Bay Area from Southern California, dropped off their black and tan Brussels Griffon pooch named Theo at a national dog sitting service located near Blossom Hill Road and Almaden Expressway. The next thing they knew, he managed to slip out of a door and escape.

"Our lives have been turned upside down and we're not sure what's next," Galley said in an email.

King, who was in the midst of purchasing her wedding gown when Theo went missing, and Galley put a halt to their wedding preparation in order to search for their missing pup.

The worrisome owners have poured dollar after dollar into covering the South Bay with signs, and they even said they used six Bloodhounds in an attempt to track down the 12-pound Brussels Griffon with a snaggletooth. They are also offering a $3,500 reward.

"Theo is family and we're sinking our wedding savings into finding our beloved pup," Galley wrote.

Aside from the signs, the couple has littered social media with pleas asking for any information about Theo's location. King, who has more than 27,000 followers on her Instagram account, has plastered her profile with photos of the dog. Even an Instagram account with more than six million followers has joined in the search effort by sharing a photo of the yellow sign.

"People are supporting us because they know dogs are our best friends, our better halves, our kids," Galley wrote. "Sometimes they fill that void in your life, sometimes they bring two people closer together, and they always make your life better. It was clear that Theo brought my fiancée and I closer together."

Anyone with information about Theo's whereabouts is asked to text or call 310-663-2652.

I simply said that animals aren’t human. It shows a misplaced set of priorities when someone spends their hard earned money that was set aside for their wedding.

Marriage is often considered almost throwaway nowadays, and stories like this enable that.

If they valued the dog so much, how did it get away?

If it truly was their “friend,” why did it leave?

I’m sure they miss it, but like most people who have dogs, they’ll get another one.

I also hope some enterprising person doesn’t go buy a lookalike and try to return it. Hopefully the reward isn’t dead or alive.

I’m so sorry you’re missing the ol’ empathy chip & have no clue as to the bond between humans & animals.

Yeah, it probably was intentionally provocative. You showed outstanding restraint in the reply.

I like our dog and I treat it nicely and play with it and take it for walks, etc., but if it waits to be carried to bed it would wait a long, long time, and the reward might reach five figures if you count the two zeros to the right of the decimal point.

If you lose your dog, let me know, because I’ll put the whole family to work scouring your neighborhood.

WHY CATS ARE BETTER THEN MEN
Cats keep their opinions to themselves

I beg to differ.
MY cat was of the opnion that the chicken leg that my wife had just served herself, and left unattended for 7.65 seconds, was fair game...

My brother had a dog that if I knew I could get one that good, I’d consider it.

But, he was also mad when we moved out of state because no one else would watch his dog when he went on vacation. What a hassle.

I am going to argue that it doesn’t come close. You assume you will outlive your pet. Plus attachment to a pet varies between people. I have cats. Losing a cat is not a big deal to me. I just go get another cat. It’s nothing like losing a child for me.

I have seen too many people get rid of their precious, irreplaceable fur baby after a real baby comes on the scene. That kinda creeps me out.

I’ll agree that losing a pet can be devastating to some people.

They didn't put the actual wedding on hold. They put their wedding preparation on hold. Article is poorly written...it is explained a little bit into it.

Real men love them some dogs. I told my young niece, “ Never have anything to do w/ a man who doesn’t love animals. And make sure dogs like him as they are a great judge of character.”

Yea, because loving dogs is the ONLY thing that makes a man.

Sorry.

Because I don’t believe animals are little humans in fur coats doesn’t make me less of a man.

I don’t hate dogs, I do disrespect people who think their dogs are their children.

I would suggest therapy.

But some dogs have a higher verbal IQ than many humans.

Q What is on top of your house?
A Roof!

Q What part of a tree does a cat cling to?
A Bark!

Having a “good” animal is 90% what you put into it. They don’t just hatch out fully formed. And that process of training and the two-way street of growing to understand, represents a great deal of the bond.

Losing a pet is not like losing a child, snowflake.

I beg to differ. To some people, not just "snowflakes," a dog can be like a child, especially if the persons or people have NO children. Bet there are many people on FR that neither think of their pet as "Just a..." or would think getting another would satisfy the loss immediately.

It’s their Money. They can spend it as they see fit.

I thought we Conservative types felt that way. It’s the people that spend other people’s money that are the problem.

Our little pain in the butt Chow costs us about $200 a Month. She needs an Injection every 24 Days because she has some rare Syndrome that would kill her of not for the Medication. She also takes a daily Steroid Pill for the same thing.

Add in Food and Maintenance and I call her our four legged Car Payment. The Dog makes my Wife happy and that’s all that matters. Both the Dog and the Wife tolerate me. LOL

Animals are not human. They have no souls. they won’t be in heaven.

How do you know? Been there, have you? ;)
