Fox News just showed Jodie Foster speaking to a group of actors and telling them NOT to give THANK YOU SPEECHES but instead to Give POLITICAL SPEECHES at the Academy Awards.

Agreed. I did make a point of watching the first half of the ones that Billy Crystal hosted. He’d skewer everybody, in a funny and entertaining way.
Missed it by “that” much.
Are they still doing that Oscar thing? I couldn’t tell you who’s won one for the last 15 years...
You joined FR today and already want to rally us to boycott something? Thinking of creating flash mobs next — you know, we all rush out with our pitchforks and torches?
This topic has already been the subject of a great many posts. And if I sound ticked off it’s because I remember a long-ago FR of thoughtful discussions and lots of solid information, not the chat room it’s becoming.
1) The boycott has already automatically started. People just get sick of the crap and turn it off. Like the NFL ratings drop no organized boycott needed.
2) Official organized boycotts are counter productive and have push back. When one side makes a boycott a big deal the other side will make supporting the thing boycotted a big deal.
I will not watch, because I got sick of the crap years ago. More people will not watch as they do more crap. Nature will take its course.
I forgot, we also saw an independent Christian movie called Beyond the Mask.
No problem-o. Quit watching after the “real” movie stars either passed on, retired from acting (John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, etc etc), or “got political” (Robert Redford, Marlon Brando, etc).

I still love that show, how they always think Columbo is such a dope and he gets them every time. It really holds up. I love Monk too, haven’t see one of those in a while, but we see the Columbos on Hallmark.
Can’t boycott something I have never watched. Never could watch the self-congratulatory circle jerks those idiots put on to make themselves seem important.
For whatever reason hubby had the grammys on, they seemed not so awful. We will probably try watching the Oscars, I like Jimmy Kimmel, but if it gets awful I will leave.
Jodie said her date for the Oscars will be John Hinckley.

I’m not going to boycott the Oscars. Because I haven’t watched one since high school. It’s just as easy to wait until afterwards to find out who won what.
I would MUCH prefer to watch the Governor’s Ball, that POTUS and FLOTUS are hosting, than these OVERPAID DRAMA QUEEN awards, any day.
