Highway 35 in Los Gatos is shut down, a portion of the roadway at Las Cumbres Road is gone.
Highway 35 has been completely washed away near mile marker 10.47 in Santa Cruz County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The ground gave-way Friday.
The CHP sent this tweet out Friday afternoon:
Their drought is over, eh?
They need stricter water rationing.
Damn: I travel that road often for fun on the scooter.
That’s a big hole.
They’re gonna need a longer bridge.
Looks like a whole lotta sand under that stretch of ground.
why not just drive down and up the hole? A paved road is mere convenience.
By building up a little speed I’m sure I could make it.
I guess it can be said now ...
“Climate Change (makes a vacuum)!”
I see no road base either. Just laid pavement on top of soil.
“I see no road base either. Just laid pavement on top of soil.”
ALL who designed this road had degrees from “Mexico University
of San Francisco” a fully accredited school by > Sacramento !!
Saw this in the news last night and thought “That is badass”.
I haven’t seen conditions like this since 1978.
I am headed over to SC in a few minutes and hope 17 holds up, otherwise I’ll go through Portola Valley.
pay me now, or pay me later
Let me know how it is.
I think they need a bridge first. I am starting to think all of the shovel ready projects Trump wants will be in California.
May take a while to repair this one.
NOT ONE RED CENT!! Let Mexico foot the $ bill and send help!!! NOPE NOT ONE RED CENT!!! Remember how OVOMIT punished Red states during his long 8 years of HELL!!asshole ran the country like a dictator and the freakin republicans just stood there with their mouths wide open like cod fish bowing before him like a king!!!! Where did that get us by not fighting him and his agenda ....A RABID LUNATIC DEMONIC LEFT WING group that we are now left to fight literally!!!
I certainly hope it’s shut down.
