Keep an eye on your TV just before halftime of Sundays Super Bowl matchup between the Falcons and Patriots. Thats when 84 Lumber will air the following ad:
This isnt the original version of the ad. For that, youll have to see 84 Lumbers website during halftime of the big game. When 84 Lumber and their agency partner, Brunner, submitted the ad to Fox for airing during the Super Bowl it was deemed too controversial.
84 Lumbers president and owner Maggie Hardy Magerko talked to the New York Times about the situation.
I still cant even understand why it was censored, she told the Times. In fact, Im flabbergasted by that in todays day and age. Its not pornographic, its not immoral, its not racist.

They’re closed on Sundays (unlike Lowes and Home Depot)...at best, they’re open on certain holidays, maybe 1/2 day on Saturday around here anyway.
I don’t go there for my DIY projects because of their limited hours.

LOL Does 84 even have any lumber yards in messyco? It’s clear the implication of the ad is that they are on there way to the U.S.

This won’t change my idea about NOT watching the Super Bowl and it’s a good thing, as I just read on FOX News that that skank known as Lady Gaga is going to use her appearance at the halftime show to voice her political opinions. As if we don’t already know what her opinions are. Happily, I’ll be doing something else.

84 Lumber challenged us to create a thought-provoking 90 second spot that would tell the world who 84 Lumber is and what they stand fora company looking for people with grit, determination and heart, no matter who they are, where they come from, or what they look like. And, so they picked a messycan woman and her daughter? Really, these two individuals are the epitome of grit, heart and determination? Not an American dad building a home for his children?

“They are at the very least clearly breaking the law by hopping a freight train. That is illegal.”
Good point.
But I’m not all that familiar with railroad laws and regulations in Mexico. I’m not sure if hopping a freight train in Mexico is illegal. If it is, there are a lot of people that break that law. It is not uncommon to see boxcars full of people in Mexico.

84 Lumber is encouraging a female child and her unguarded young mother to travel alone, through the desert, in areas populated by gang members and middle-aged men pretending to be school aged children. Interviews at the border show that most, if not all, of these women and children have been raped and many sold later into white slavery.
This is morally unconscionable. Trump, in his O'Reilly interview - or somebody from DHS - should point this out!!

The original controversial ad had them confronted with a wall when they reached the border. Now, theyre not going to show the wall. They probably won't show the trash, either...

These companies that are choosing to take political positions are fools. Haven’t they ever heard that you don’t talk religion or politics with friends? They are cutting their own throat.

While they are at it, they should change their name to 1984 Lumber... Because with this commercial (and especially the one they WANTED to air), they have become kinda Orwellian.
To: scrabblehack
I used them for a very large project, very professional and I really enjoyed working with them. Oh well, they chose sides.

Can't tell the true story of illegal immigration. That would be racist. Great post! Spot on.

Roughly a year ago; American Express had a photo on their hmepage of an inter-racial MALE couple swapping spit...’American Express celebrates gay marriage!’ Wonder how many children saw that little piece of porn? The photo disappeared in a few days...bad feedback from customers, I imagine.

It is well-known that President Donald Trump has taken a hard line on immigration and has promised to build a border wall that Mexico will pay forso theres little doubt this ad will stoke some fires on game day,Utter B.S. It irritates me how illegal immigration has been morphed into immigration.

It is illegal to hop a freight train in Mexico, and it is very dangerous. Just getting on and off the trains is very dangerous to life and limb, and many women and young girls are gang-raped on the trains. There are murders and many kidnappings on the freight trains, and many people are robbed on those trains, and various other crimes are frequently committed on them as well.
Besides riding in boxcars (as depicted in that commercial), many people ride on top of the train cars in Mexico, and if it is a long ride, some fall asleep and fall off, others just lose their balance and fall, or are pushed off the freight cars.
There are numerous freight train routes the illegals use in Mexico to get up closer towards the USA. This one shown below is called "La Bestia" (the beast), and the macabre nickname for all of these illegal-alien-hopping freight train routes collectively is "the death train".
It is not at all kind and merciful to support these kinds of illegal and dangerous activities and behaviors (like they seem to be doing in that bizarre commercial), but, rather, cruel, cold-hearted, and uncaring.

I would not recommend hopping on a moving freight train in Mexico or anywhere.
I had a friend in college who thought he was going to experience the world by hopping on a frieght train. Unfortunately for him, he wanted to head west with a few stops along the way, but the train wanted to head north without a stop for a long ways.

The best budiness strategy is to stay away from politics or even social issues as you may impress a few people but you will anger lots of people. And for the most part, I don’t think people care about the politics of the guy that sells them lumber or the people that brew their beer.
