Nordstrom said Thursday it is not going to sell this seasons Ivanka Trump merchandise, apparently winding down its relationship with the controversial brand that has spurred boycott threats and concerns about the first daughters conflicts of interest.
The department-store chain said it was making the move based on sales performance.
Weve got thousands of brands, according to a Nordstrom spokesperson. Each year we cut about 10 percent and refresh our assortment with about the same amount. In this case, based on the brands performance weve decided not to buy it for this season.
Divestment is our goal: Seattle City Council to vote on pulling $3 billion from Wells Fargo over Dakota Access Pipeline WATCH Unlimited Digital Access. $1 for 4 weeks.
Nordstrom did not say whether the decision to stop buying the Ivanka Trump brand is permanent, saying only that we make buying decisions season by season.
Currently, the department-store chain is reducing the amount of Ivanka Trump merchandise it stocks, though some inventory may remain for now, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
Nordstrom has come under fire from the Grab Your Wallet campaign, a critic of the administration that is asking shoppers to boycott retailers that carry Ivanka Trump or Donald Trump goods. Ivankas business also has drawn criticism for blurring the lines between brand promotion and politics. Her company sent a style alert to journalists in November promoting a gold bracelet that she wore during an interview on CBSs 60 Minutes.
Ivanka Trump is no longer listed among brands on Nordstroms website, but the company still lists some items on its Rack site, the department stores value-focused chain. The Racked fashion website reported earlier Thursday that the products had begun disappearing from Nordstroms e-commerce selection.

Nordstrom won’t be around to sell any merchandise next season then.
The list on my boycott list is getting longer by the day.
That is sad. Where is there a conflict of interest? It’s clothes and jewelry.
Stock tip: Short Nordstrom!
Cutting off their nose to spite their face.
Stupid idea.
Add Nordstrom to your boycott list.
We've got thousands of stores to choose from.
As a Northwesterner, I used to buy all my business clothes at Nordstrom from about 1980. Suits and shirts were, in the Nordstrom tradition, good value because they wore well.
In the late 80’s, they were discovered and became yuppie oriented. The prices went sky high. $120 for a French brand polo/golf shirt that could be purchased at Penny’s for less than $20??
I said then as I do now- I did not leave Nordstrom, they left me.
Ivanka should just start selling direct via the web anda few high-end boutique stores. She could wear a brown paper bag and sell knockoffs of it for good money.
I won’t be buying from Nordstom’s ever again, and I will be buying Ivanka Trump’s stuff for my wife and daughters.
Hope Nordstrom’s goes belly up by Christmas.
Yes, this will resonate with the homeless druggie crowd that Nordstrom must be catering to. Bankrupt in 3-2-1.
That’s retail and it’s all based on mathematical formulas.
Manufacturers are always fighting for shelf space and placement.
The game keeps going until you are run off the shelves and new merchants replace old ones.
However, you can reenter a retailers shelf system again and fight back to the top.
Win some lose some and she will likely have other opportunities to continue selling her merchandise but, no business lasts forever...
Cept the salvation business. That’s forever.
Dear Nordstrom - I will be sending you my credit card, cut up in really tiny pieces. That card was used for well over $100,000 in purchases during the time we’ve had it. Good luck matching that with the income of smelly, mouthy protesters. Dumb Nordstrom - really dumb.
Gee, I wonder if Ivanka will be able to afford carfare...
Did ‘t Macy’s have a downturn after pulling Donald Trump Ties, etc last year?
>> Stock tip: Short Nordstrom!
And the other major holdings the directors are publicly known to have.

Well, if true, that is a really tacky move.
Ha ha. Seriously bad management. Juveniles. In two years they’ll be begging to have them back.
Scratch Nordstrom from our shopping list (at Pentagon City, Arlington, Va).
We’ll shop at a friendlier store.
