The federal court for the Eastern District of New York issued an emergency stay halting President Donald Trumps executive order banning entry to the US from seven majority-Muslim countries tonight, following widespread protests at airports around the country.
The court ruled on a habeas corpus petition filed by the ACLU on behalf of Hameed Khalid Darweesh and Sameer Abdulkhaleq Alshawi, who were denied entry to the US upon landing at JFK airport in New York City and detained indefinitely by Customs and Border Patrol. Darweesh spent a decade working for the United States military in Iraq as an interpreter and engineer and had been granted an entry visa after background checks; Alshawi had been granted a visa in order to join his wife and son who are already permanent residents of the US after their similar service with the US military.

I have read that people who fall under this order have not been permitted to board transit to the U.S. since the order took effect Friday around 4:45 PM EST.
The problems arise from people who were already in transit at the time of the order.
Once this initial batch of people who were in transit have been processed, the issues on our soil should subside.
There will still be the issue of dealing with the non-citizens who may reside temporarily in the U.S., but at this time are overseas. My understanding is that those people will be processed on a case by case basis.
Also sounds like non-citizens from those countries who are here legally now will not be able to freely travel back and forth. Once they leave, they will have to be approved for re-entry after extreme vetting.
No more of this crap where Mohammed, the college student, goes back home to “visit his mother and father” and while he’s there he takes part in terrorist training and methods.
Thanks for that info.
But they must have had those lawyers phone #’s beforehand, and an OK to call them late afternoon/evening on a weekend.
Time to amend the jurisdiction of the US District Courts.
All orders seeking a stay of an action by the executive branch should be bumped up to the US Courts of Appeals BEFORE any stay takes effect.
The idea that some no account dopey political appointee federal judge could thwart the actions of the President of the US in securing the borders is absurd.
You can take it to the bank that they did. This is not over by a longshot. Getting Donald Trump in the White House was merely the establishing of a beach head. The real of actual battle is about to begin. To paraphrase Winston Churchill: The Battle for the White House is over. The Battle for the Nation is about to begin. And it will be a no holds barred bar room brawl. It will not be for the faint of heart crows, a/k/a, the “we can’t do that that because we are above that” crowd. It will be those such as Chicken soup, that understand how to fight.
I can't see how this judge can overrule POTUS. His order makes no sense. Stopping short of letting them into the country strands them in the airport. If he says they shouldn't be sent back to their country, then ship them to Merkel. Counter his ridiculous ruling with equally ridiculous actions.
No question
These are WEIRD people.
No trouble at all, good friend!
God bless America, and God bless Donald Trump.
We finally got us a fighter. WOOOOO!!!!!
