I read the same thing.

Burr actually was really good in the roll. I personally think Perry Mason was the best show ever. Della Street was a doll. I read also that Orson Wells thought Ray Collins (Lt. Tragg) was the best actor he ever knew.

Mannix was one of the better old TV shows.

I can hear the theme song as I type... RIP!

Theme song by Lalo Schifrin, who also wrote theme song for Mission Impossible, and significant score elements for Dirty Harry.

Produced a score for The Exorcist, which was rejected by William Friedkin (who used Tubular Bells instead).

Just as Henry Mancini did a score for Frenzy, which was rejected by Alfred Hitchcock, who used music by Ron Goodwin instead.

(Many many years ago) One of the funniest “Lucy Show” episodes I ever saw had Mike Connors as the guest star. He was in his heyday as the star of “Mannix.”

Somehow Lucy and Connors got tied up in ropes by bad guys, they were in chairs back-to-back. All their efforts to escape were just hilarious. Mike Connors fit right in with the slapstick physical humor, he was very good. After all this time I still remember that very funny episode.

R.I.P.

My favorite thing on Mannix, his Car Phone.

It consisted of a House Phone handle with the curled wire hanging down. Looked like it came off my Mother’s Princess Phone.

You never saw where the wire was connected inside the car, probably because it wasn’t.

His real Armenian name was Krekor Ohanian. I memorized that name as a kid, it was so unusual and different than his stage name.

There goes another part of my youth. RIP Mike Connors. Thank you for all that fun on TV in the 60s and 70s.

PM is definitely a gold standard program. I liked William Hopper aka Paul Drake.

Burr did some radio drama, Fort Laramie. It’s rather good.

I’ve got a few Mannix DVDs around, maybe they’ll get some play this weekend.

Mannix would also always flying tackle some thug from way up high in a warehouse, making stacks of obviously empty boxes go flying.

What ever happened to Peggy? Good looking woman, and faithful assistant?

George: Look, let's just jump out of the car.

Jerry: We're doing sixty miles an hour!

George: So we jump and roll, you won't get hurt.

Jerry: Who are you, Mannix?

RIP

That happened quite often with Inspector Lou Erskine as well.

On “Mannix”, he drove an Olds Toronado convertible that was custom made for the show(It may have been one of car customizer George Barris’ designs.)

That must’ve been early in the series. I recall Mannix driving a series of Mopar vehicles, even a Cuda.
