Style Critics Notice First Lady's Conservative Makeover: Is She Hot & Sexy or Dowdy?
Hollywood Take ^ | JAN 21 2017 AST | By Robin Lempel

Melania Trump channeled Jackie Kennedy in Ralph Lauren at Donald Trump's inauguration. Melania's had a much more toned-down style the past few days. Is her new look hot or not?

Is Melania Trump's style sexy or dowdy? There has been a huge debate the last 24 hours about the First Lady's inauguration looks. Long sleeves, conservative silhouettes and muted makeup have defined her looks yesterday and today. Is this Melania Trump 2.0?

It is clear that Donald Trump's team is trying to paint a new picture. That image? A wholesome First Lady and mother. But will America buy the message?

Melania and the Trump family arrived at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington D.C. from New York on a military jet yesterday. She was decked out in a black Norisol Ferrari coat with a matching black fitted dress. She wore the same outfit later that day during a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns. The family then headed to a luncheon at Donald’s hotel and a pre-inaugural concert at the Lincoln Memorial.

That night, Melania wore her first formal dress of the inauguration. And, again, it was very conservative and toned-down. While Melania stunned in a glittery gold Reem Acra dress at the candlelit dinner at Union Station, she was completely covered up. The dress was long and had long sleeves. She showed no skin and wore barely any makeup.

Today, Melania chose to wear a stunning blue Ralph Lauren number. Again, it was a very modest choice for the former model. Many have pointed out, though, that the cashmere cropped jacket, mock turtleneck dress, suede clutch and gloves could be a nod to Jackie Kennedy. Blue also shows the Trumps are trying to be bipartisan. Instead of her usual blowout, Melania chose to put her hair in an updo.

Melania is known for her glitzy style. She’s been a model since she was 5. Throughout the campaign, Melania wasn’t taken seriously, especially after she plagiarized Michelle Obama’s speech. Now that she’s going to be First Lady, though, her team is trying counteract that. They want to repaint the picture.

Ivanka, meanwhile, completely overshadowed Melania in a bold green Oscar de la Renta coat and a dress yesterday. Could that be a sign of things to come?

Sources have speculated that Ivanka will take more of a First Lady role, especially because Melania will be in New York with Barron. And Ivanka was very involved with the campaign. Ivanka is already taking center stage while Melania is receding into the background. And their style choices show just who’s important.

What do you think of Melania Trump’s outfits? Let us know your take in the comments section below!

Dowdy now, is it?<<<

There has been a huge debate the last 24 hours about the First Lady's inauguration looks.

No debate, however for eight years of... well...

Settled science!

Now it's cat fights. Too funny.

“dowdy”?

I only wish I looked that “dowdy.”

She looked stunning.

And I wish reporters would stop calling Ivanka a “first lady.” Melania is the first lady; she is just placing her son’s best interests first, with, I am sure, her husband’s blessing.

Ivanka is a very trusted advisor to her father.

I don’t understand Jackie worship. I met President Kennedy and his wife when my orchestra played at the White House in 1962. President Kennedy was magnetic. His wife gave us a tour of the White House. She was well-dressed and polite but we guys got zero vibes from her. The girls, of course, were swooning. Mrs. Kennedy was polite but utterly bored and boring. Very soft voice; hard to hear in a group. Well dressed but without magnetism.

How many times did the media tell us how beautiful Mrs. Obama was? Remember the glowing stories of her arms?

the new First Lady looks like she’s ladylike and refined. Also, she seems to have a lot of natural poise, sort of like Lady Diana.

As I posted yesterday, while Melania is certainly an attractive woman, yet I was still amazed at how absolutely regal she looked at the inauguration. When was the last decade any woman wore formal gloves? Melania pulled that off with aplomb and just came across as very stately.

You know hillary is thinking, “This sorry POS is one of the main reasons I wasn’t elected.”

But the flip side of that story is that hillary would have never been on that stage if not for Bill.
