While Melania Trump looked happy at Donald's inauguration, sources say she isn't comfortable with the move to Washington, D.C. She and son Barron are even living in New York for a few months instead of heading to the White House.
As the new President prepares to move to the White House, his wife and youngest son Barron are staying behind in New York City. .
Sources previously told TMZ that Melania doesn't want to uproot Barron in the middle of the school year. And Page Six said that she is "really devoted" to her son, raising him herself instead of hiring nannies.
So she will commute to and from the White House until at least June. And even when summer rolls around, Melania won't be in any rush to move to D.C.
Unlike Michelle Obama, Melania Trump won't move right into the White House "Melania wants to stay in New York while her son goes to school," a source told People. "I don’t know if she will ever live away from New York full time, especially with her son in school there. She loves her home in Manhattan and her independent life."
But it also seems that Melania isn't as comfortable in the political spotlight. After all, she's a foreigner who came from a modeling background. And when she married Donald Trump, she didn't think he'd be running for President.
"She doesn't do very well with these kinds of things," said magazine writer Julia Ioffe, who wrote a GQ profile of Melania last year. "She didn't sign up to be a political wife. She wasn't in favor of Donald Trump running for president. She got behind him because she's the supportive wife, but she was trying to make him think twice, three times, four times before he did it. She wanted to be comfortable, wealthy and out of the spotlight."
In fact, many noted that it was Donald's daughter Ivanka who made most of the appearances during his campaign. Some even referred to Ivanka as Donald's "surrogate spouse" and speculated that she would take on more of the First Lady role.
Donald Trump's campaign may have also caused some tension with his wife. Melania wasn't thrilled to hear Donald's comments on the Access Hollywood tape. While that doesn't mean they are having issues in their relationship, it's another hurdle for them to overcome.

Im tired of first bedwarmers acting like they have duties, or an office. Back to 1974 Rosalyn Carter was the only sane one we’ve had. The rest have been nutcases of one kind or another.
Id prefer Trump treat the White House like a no nonsense business office. He is going to be a brutally busy man for about 18 months. In Air Force one its about a 20 minute flight between NY and DC. So let her do what makes her happy I say.
This is not a Nancy and ronnie kind of story.
Trump clearly does his own thing. She does her own thing. They meet up somewhere in between. I think it will suit him to be here in DC turning the screws to everything while melania stays in nyc. The relationship works for them.
Melania does not need to be here all the time. Press will hound them about it but they dont need to conform.
Don’t forget the schools in DC “didn’t want him” — they were having a hard time finding a school that would take him. As President Trump has success, the nasty folks will either get in line or become irrelevant. In any case, to put a vulnerable kid into a situation that could turn nasty at this point would be a mistake. If SNL bullies him, think of him going into a class of strange kids with liberal parents! Melania knows her son and what he needs. She will be there when it matters, and I’m sure Mr. President will spend plenty of time in NYC.

I remember that Elizabeth Taylor didn’t want to live in DC when her hubby was elected Senator. She knew what the people were like there, hated the atmosphere, and kept away as much as possible.

Tell us about this rule. Then explain how we cannot secure his home in NYC and DC both. You do realize, his home in NY will be protected whether he is there or not? The SS doesn’t just abandon it until he comes to town.

Her parents visit often. Barron has spoken their native language since birth. Grandparents are very active in his life and sat behind the family at the parade and next to Barron at the congressional luncheon.

There is here, my fair city. For the two months before the inauguration, Pence lived about 4 blocks away from me. We treated him horribly and the trash who live here totally trashed up the neighborhood in protest - so much for our professional pretensions. His motorcade drove by me once and I gave him a big thumbs up, but most of us are narrow minded biggots who are happy to tell the state of Indiana to crawl back into fly-over country and keep its denizens home.
Melania is right not to like us. We don't like ourselves. We are trashy mean spiteful bigots. The freak show marching around yesterday was just what we wanted to see. Much better that than the Trumps.

His opposition will intensify. It’s not like business, where you do a deal and move on, where a loser today is a winner tomorrow, where a foe today is your partner tomorrow.
His enemies are small and they are mean. They are relentless. If he wins, they lose everything. If they win, he goes back to a life most can only dream of.
I endorsed him right here the day he announced. I loved every minute of the campaign. I never doubted that he would win, and he did.
Now he has to be President, live in a big white jail in DC, and put up with shit every day with no clear path to conciliation with his enemies.
People who live the life doubt he willl put up with it. I think fussing about the crowd size is a very bad early sign. Hopefully it gets better soon.
