While Melania Trump looked happy at Donald's inauguration, sources say she isn't comfortable with the move to Washington, D.C. She and son Barron are even living in New York for a few months instead of heading to the White House.
As the new President prepares to move to the White House, his wife and youngest son Barron are staying behind in New York City. .
Sources previously told TMZ that Melania doesn't want to uproot Barron in the middle of the school year. And Page Six said that she is "really devoted" to her son, raising him herself instead of hiring nannies.
So she will commute to and from the White House until at least June. And even when summer rolls around, Melania won't be in any rush to move to D.C.
Unlike Michelle Obama, Melania Trump won't move right into the White House "Melania wants to stay in New York while her son goes to school," a source told People. "I don’t know if she will ever live away from New York full time, especially with her son in school there. She loves her home in Manhattan and her independent life."
But it also seems that Melania isn't as comfortable in the political spotlight. After all, she's a foreigner who came from a modeling background. And when she married Donald Trump, she didn't think he'd be running for President.
"She doesn't do very well with these kinds of things," said magazine writer Julia Ioffe, who wrote a GQ profile of Melania last year. "She didn't sign up to be a political wife. She wasn't in favor of Donald Trump running for president. She got behind him because she's the supportive wife, but she was trying to make him think twice, three times, four times before he did it. She wanted to be comfortable, wealthy and out of the spotlight."
In fact, many noted that it was Donald's daughter Ivanka who made most of the appearances during his campaign. Some even referred to Ivanka as Donald's "surrogate spouse" and speculated that she would take on more of the First Lady role.
Donald Trump's campaign may have also caused some tension with his wife. Melania wasn't thrilled to hear Donald's comments on the Access Hollywood tape. While that doesn't mean they are having issues in their relationship, it's another hurdle for them to overcome.

Melania has kept Barron holed up in private for much of it.
She will try to keep him out of the limelight as much as possible...while ivanka channels The Kennedys.
Jared is angling for political office down the road...and I think jr may try it too.

I read a mini life story of her. She is a homebody and does not like being in the spotlight. She loves being a mom and Barron comes first. After all, he is only 10. She adores President Trump but thinks her place is with their son right now. His world has been turned upside down. God bless all of them.

Who wants to be in DC in the summer? I blame Willis Carrier for giving us a year-round government.
It was not ideal but my family moved five times while I was growing up. I went to six grade schools and three high schools. I also am a retired custody lawyer and I don’t know how many times I had a case where the kid had to change schools. It happens. Kids deal with it. In this case he has his little nephews who are going to be in DC too. It may even be the case that some of his school mates are moving there.
New York is where I’d rather stay!
Washington, DC is my home away from home. It’s a beautiful, exciting city.
I find this entire discussion quite odd.
If a woman was president and the husband wanted to stay elsewhere because of work there would be NO discussion about it.
She has her priorities,her son’s welfare,and many couples spend much time apart.

Marine One can fly her down when she needs to play her first lady role for some state dinner. She doesn't need to try to emulate Michelle Obama and raise a vegetable garden in the back 40.
I imagine it's the same for the White House. No matter what we might think of it and its iconic image, it's probably slumming for Trump. The Executive Residence of the White House, is 16,000 feet.
Trumps penthouse is 30,000 feet.

Ivana got custody of kids when they were twelve and under. She is the unsung hero in their lives and does not get enough credit on FR.. She says she raised them on her own.
I can see that..happens with husbands and new wives. Might even be some jealousy behind the scenes. It would be a miracle if there wasnt given the whole home dynamic...and an empire to run in the future.

What I saw in that photo was him playing on the table - unless it was just a photo op. (That and practicing his putting inside).
I played with my cars on the table and played ball hockey in my basement. I suppose on a relative scale it is the same thing. (Dad earning $20,000 on a $20 floor vs. earning $2,000,00,000 on a $2,000 floor.) I hope they did allow Barron to play cars at the table. (”Okay son - time to eat now though - stop playing with the Bentley on the gold-leaf table.)
