It’s called Red Flag where our pilots go up against Russian and other countries ACM. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Flag_(USAF)

I saw MIGs flying out of Miramar NAS when the Navy was there.

Happens quit frequently around Nevada. The AF uses the southern part of the State and the Navy uses the central part for Top Gun. Might be an interesting story if it was an F-35 and an SU-27.

...in what could be a sign that America is preparing for the possibility of war with Moscow.

Or Beijing, for that matter. The ChiComs operate variants of the Su-27.

The masters of both OBAMA and KERRY would love to start WW3 before a we get a common sense patriot in charge.

Be on your guard in these last days and hours. I fear that the acts of criminality and corruption this administration has become renowned for are not finished yet

No. They train against various “enemies” all the time.

Is this some sort of USA vs RUSSIA leak or propaganda?

Since when is it okay to publish mock dogfights in a Restricted Area or MOA (Military Operating Area)?

I would think if the base doesn’t publish it, and you are on the base looking up, don’t put it in the net.

Seems like FAKE NEWS. Same people pushing a big war.

And it is not a very exciting dogfight anyway.

Interesting evasive maneuver. A straight line.

Hyperbole much?

How can anyone tell from this pic what type of planes are being flown? This is important because that is the entire argument of ‘we may be preparing for war’.

It is meant to get rid of “Buck Fever” of seeing your first MIG (SU) as well as to get a sense of the relative performance of your aircraft vs theirs.

Just posted because it looked interesting as these are supposed to be the only photos of an actual training dogfight - at least the only ones I’ve seen.

And yes I know we train against various Red forces - but how many know we train against actual Russian planes (This is supposed to be one of three secretly purchased SU-27Ps) - plus the other interesting aspect is any engagement is supposed to be with F-15s and F-22sn not F-16s - according to one post here.

Oh good grief. I was Red Flag and Green Flag in the 80’s.

I operated a ZSU-23-4. RUSSIAN AAA tank.

We operated against everything known.

This may come as a surprise to the new snowflakes of the world but military operations do take place in Nevada.

There are four known Su-27s in the United States. Two owned by the USAF, and two by the private aggressor company Pride Aircraft.

The USAF aircraft were delivered to the United States from Belarus in 1995, for heaven's sake.

Sheesh.
