As the debate continues over repeal of the Affordable Care Act and what might replace it, a growing share of Americans believe that the federal government has a responsibility to make sure all Americans have health care coverage, according to a new Pew Research Center survey.
...
The belief that the government has a responsibility to ensure health coverage has increased across many groups over the past year, but the rise has been particularly striking among lower- and middle-income Republicans.
Currently, 52% of Republicans with family incomes below $30,000 say the federal government has a responsibility to ensure health coverage for all, up from just 31% last year. There also has been a 20-percentage-point increase among Republicans with incomes of $30,000-$74,999 (34% now, 14% last year). But there has been no significant change among those with incomes of $75,000 or more (18% now, 16% then).
...
Among Republicans and Republican leaners, most of whom (67%) say the government does not have a responsibility for ensuring health coverage, there is very little support for the government not being involved in health care at all. Just 10% of Republicans favor no government involvement, while 56% say it should continue Medicare and Medicaid.
We voted to repeal Obamacare. Don’t believe these fake news polls.
Thank God for Polling, otherwise Americans might not know what to think anymore.
Wasn’t it “Polling” that told us Hillary was going to win in a Landslide???
Bogus; what pretends to be Healthcare after DeathCare sucks depending on your state and city. Everyone I’ve talked to “hates” it and realizes they’re not getting quality care any longer thanks to Big Bro. Wait times to see your doctor are unreasonable and seeing a specialist is even worse. The physician from some third-world hole, whose accent is difficult to understand, doesn’t know who you are and often times cares minimally. Patients get 10-15 minutes and get to talk about one thing and have to make an appointment if they have questions about anything else. Meanwhile, they ask you personal questions totally unrelated to why you’re there so they can report to Big Brother, e.g., do you own a gun, do you feel threatened? And, they are constantly typing into a computer while they’re talking. Who, in their right mind, wants government involved in their healthcare? These Polls are bogus!!!
All this is thanks to the government interference and the likes of Zero, Pelosi, Reid, et al. Let’s also give credit to the spineless, gutless GOPe who did nothing; absolutely nothing to repeal this crap.
To sum up, the poll that claims we want more government in our healthcare is Liberal crap.
Polls = Propaganda
Fake polls!
“More Americans say government should ensure health care coverage”
Just more wrongheaded Americans...
.02, YMMV
KYPD
these people who think that government is their friend, will be sadly disappointed, and their children and children’s children will pay for their folly
Jobs are made scarcer by loosely goosey rules allowing employers to import indentured servants or even hire illegal aliens with little fear of fines.
Cure that fundamental, get rid of stupid mandates and allow sale of policies nationwide and you will see employers offer better plans as an incentive to attract workers.
It worked during the labor scarcity of World War II. It will work now without a damn war if the zero sum game mentality is changed.
“People who get free stuff from the government believe the government has a responsibility to give out free stuff.”
So, how did these pollsters do on predicting Trump’s election?
I ask because my income is below that level and in my opinion the federal government should have no business in health care at all. Zero. Nada. Zilch.
The gov owes me zip except treatment for where I was shot twice and complications. I use BCBS Diamond Plan vs the damn VA.
Government workers/politicians/government recipients believe OPM should support them and the lifestyle they are accustomed.
Not many family type R’s who are making under 30K. What a cherry picked poll.
“More Americans say government should ensure health care coverage”
We need ensurance of our insurance, to give us assurance of its issuance.
Great tag line. Thanks.
Well said, and yet I take it further and more definitely I think.
“There is no right way to do the wrong thing” - Me.
The strongest argument against federal interference in healthcare it is illegal because it is unconstitutional. There are also strong moral, economic, and even logistical arguments against it, but the strongest argument is a legal argument - it is flat out unconstitutional. Because unconstitutional federal acts are illegal acts, they are, by definition, acts of tyranny. Therefore by definition, Obamacare and all federal interference with healthcare are acts of tyranny and MUST be nullified, overturned, rejected, and abolished.
Show me where the $1 trillion Dept of HHS is constitutional. It is not. The HHS is by definition a Dept of Tyranny and must be dismantled along with the 70% to 80% unconstitutional portion of the federal government if we are to recover our Free Constitutional Republic.
How? you ask. Impossible! you say. Tell that to the Founders who risked their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to do the impossible of fighting and defeating the tyranny of England, the greatest military power on earth. But our forefathers, as they declared, had “a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence.” It will be God that helps us to win now.
God bless.
Was there also a question:
Who do you think should make your health care decisions?
A. You
B. The insurance company
c. The government
d. A poll
