SALT LAKE CITY (UTAH) — There is no question Kayli Shoff has her hands full with the terrible two’s times two: her twins, Bowdy and Brock.

But she never imagined her twin boys would have had such a close call last week.

After trying to climb onto one of the drawers of the dresser in their bedroom, Bowdy tipped the dresser over and trapped Brock.

Um, what kind of straps did you mean? I’m over 50, and probably thinking about a different kind of strap. ;)

Straps attached to the wall to keep heavy furniture from falling over onto small children.

Two more democrat senators.

My understanding of the story is that the climber tipped the dresser on his brother.

What I find amazing is that neither boy panicked. No screaming at all.

The trapped boy just waited and the other calmly went about the work of freeing his brother. Amazing.

How many boys did you have?

Sorry. I attached the *;)* to the second part of your statement.

**I’m sure he’s learned his lesson. ;)**

And I would add, I’m not so sure that toddler *learned* a lesson. If you have raised boys, you’ll know what I mean.

And a web search will show you what straps are available.
There are more than a few DYI solutions w/out needing to buy a contraption.

Use a stud finder and screw the dresser to the wall. It is very tempting for children to pull out the drawers and try to climb them like a ladder.

While on a one year assignment in California, we became aware of the need to secure furnishings to prevent injury and loss with straps like these . . .

Something similar to that happened when I was two. I lost as tooth. It was driven up and killed the adult tooth. I still have a bridge. Kids climb. Its what they do.

Sorry. I didn’t mean to derail the thread. It was only supposed to be a little quip. I didn’t realize that discipline had become so much a thing of the past that not one person would get my play on words. I didn’t expect big laughs over a small joke, but I didn’t expect several posts explaining to me how strapping furniture to the walls is the best way to raise boys now. It was done different in my day, but I’m old.

Mom comes in and takes a picture, rather than tend to her son? Or, if this is a nanny cam, where was mom after the crash?

Ha! And just think of all the things you never heard about! When I and best buddy were horsing around at his house as kids one day he fell about 15-20 feet out of a tree and landed on his back in the grass unhurt. As he lay there considering if he was injured, when he turned his head to the side it bumped into the tines of the rototiller he had missed by a fraction of an inch.

We were all “wow, that would have dashed a skull open!”, and back to summer fun :-)

I’m not blaming the parents BUT I kept my lil’ ones in cribs till they were older (it was just safer). Our pediatricians really, REALLY frowned upon it.. almost insisting that “toddler” beds were safer. A friend took her pediatricians advice and got a toddler bed.. only to find her 2 1/2 year old in the bathroom medicine cabinet at two in the morning. She climbed on the toilet, onto the sink and was exploring at all the “pretty” jars (which included Tylenol, sleep aids etc). She yanked the crib out of the basement the next morning. That being said.. thank goodness this precious little guy wasn’t seriously hurt.

“Knew us like family....
My twins for sure!
It seemed like every time one has to be taken is for repairs, the other was there within a week.
Th last time this happened they were early teens and when I was taking boy twin in the girl startd bawling because she know she’d be next.
