SALT LAKE CITY (UTAH) There is no question Kayli Shoff has her hands full with the terrible twos times two: her twins, Bowdy and Brock.
But she never imagined her twin boys would have had such a close call last week.
After trying to climb onto one of the drawers of the dresser in their bedroom, Bowdy tipped the dresser over and trapped Brock.

Next he held the car up while dad changed the tire.

I’m glad that he is okay. He’s lucky for sure.

The boys father told 7News they decided to post the video online so that other parents would be aware of the dangers dressers can pose to toddlersAnd television sets. A kid was killed last year when he tried to climb up it and tipped it over on himself.

That little skull could have been crushed so easily.
The wonder of boys being boys.

Yes. From news reports I heard, the mom posted the video to educate other parents of the danger.
Special straps can be purchased to avoid this kind of tragedy. They are relatively inexpensive.

I raised three boys. It is a miracle any of us survived.
To: Daffynition
Look at that. The boy has taken a proper lifting squat.
Trying to lift with his legs and not his back.

These cheap chip-board dressers are a menace. This one doesn’t even look that tall (3 1/2 feet?), but it didn’t take much to tip it over.
Ikea really needs to make fixing this a top priority, and not by requiring the homeowner to additionally screw some clamp into the wall. People barely do that for the similarly tip-prone stoves these days, and that’s a far more substantial investment.

Likewise here.
The ER knew us like family. They should have named the ER wing after our family.

Special straps can be purchased to avoid this kind of tragedy. That seems a bit extreme. I'm sure he's learned his lesson. ;)

I wonder if it was that unique twin bond, kids have; or that the *lifter* was the one who caused the dresser to tip, by climbing in the drawer. Fear of punishment and/or good old fashioned common sense at such a young age. Good for the tike.

Fortunately little skulls are much more pliable, which may have made the difference. But yes he was lucky and it is a wonder that as many children, boys and girls, manage to make it to adulthood. Boys are worse for sure, but girls can often be nearly as bad. Especially if they have a slightly old brother sibling who they compete with.
My young granddaughter was always trying to do what her older brother, by a little more than a year, did.

No.
For the reasons you put safety latches on cabinets that contain poison/chemicals; child seats in cars; outlet covers, etc.; firearms out of reach ....
