People like this give me the creeps. IMO they represent what’s wrong with our society as a whole.
I’ve had pets, I have pets. I love them to pieces. But when you can’t distinguish between a human life and an animal, you have some real problems of the psychological and spiritual variety.
Take a guess at where this couple stands on abortion.
This story reminds me of a stand-up comedian’s routine about his hamster that got sick, and his wife took it to the vet, racking up a $180 vet bill. “To cure that hamster, it cost 8 hamsters.”
But if you have the money and that is how you choose to spend it... :shrug:
They are spreading the wealth to the people who work in the pet hospital which is good I suppose.
Cancelled our pet policy....they [pet insurances] pay pennies on the dollar. Thank goodness, we never had to *use* it for something catastrophic, but for regular vet usage, it was not worth the ROI. Kinda like the dental insurance I have, sucks; only pays pennies on dollar :)
Probably a puppy mill dog they got at a puppy boutique. Those are inherently unhealthy dogs bred from genetic nightmares.

I’ll never forget the little wire rack the vet fashioned out of wire for a antibiotic drip, it needed. It was funny to see the contraption.

Over ten years ago, I spent $1,200 for emergency surgery on Norman the Wondercat (see my FR homepage). That was a real stretch, but it was worth it. He recovered completely, and is now 16 years old. He’s sitting next to me as I FReep.
I cannot imagine going to the lengths with any pet that these people are going to. First, I don’t have anywhere near that kind of money; second, I wouldn’t torture any animal with the kinds of procedures that dog is being subjected to.
My other cat Betty (again, see my homepage) died a couple of months ago. She was 14 and had stopped eating. I took her to the vet, who had me force feed her food and medicine, and later kept her at the clinic during her last few days. It cost almost $500 did her no good. If I had it to do again, I would have made her comfortable and let her go in peace instead of torturing her during her last days.
A cat or dog is not a person. You have to know when to let go.
Odin needed a cardio evaluation some years ago.
I got 90% of $800 back.
They pay for 90% of his Soloxine and cover *everything* and they will prepay for large bills, if I can’t afford it.
No complaints here.
The dogs have better coverage than I do and I go without *many* things to keep them covered.
