After generations of his family spent their lives as outlaws for making the infamous Irish poitín, Pádraic Ó Griallais has finally been able to carry out the family business in the open just under a decade after the spirit was outlawed.
Taking a career break from his job as a high school teacher to establish a new business based on his old family recipe, Ó Griallais is free to produce and sell the highly alcoholic spirit as he pleases without the interference of the Gardaí [Irish police], who hounded the previous poitín distillers in his family with raids to put a stop to the production of the beverage that was outlawed from 1661 to 1997 due to excise regulations.
The production of the spirit was regulated by the Irish Department of Agriculture in 1997 but only under their specific regulations. Luckily the regulations still allow Ó Griallais to use the botanical bogbean that grows around his familys homeland around Indreabhán, County Galway, that makes their specific recipe so special.

Thanks!
(Somehow, I knew you were there...)
LOL!
Either modesty becomes you, or you are becoming even more modest over time......
” Ill be going to Weight Watchers soon.”
And what will you do at Weight Watchers, HUH ? Make brownies with dark chocolate frosting ??
Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble
When you’re perfect I every way.
I can’t even look in the mirror
‘Cause I get better lookin’ each day.
To know me is to love me.
I must be one he’ll of a man!
Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble.
But I’m doin’ the best that I can.

I guess that bore repeating.
Umm...that’s my job, SJB — making brownies with dark chocolate frosting! Want some? They are just waiting...
My favorite song by one of my favorite singers! He was so good! And humble, too!
I saw what you did, there...thanks!)
You’re welcome. Sally is working on preparation for the CPCC admission test. That’s why I’m not hanging around. I hate FReeping on my phone!
While I was over in the iHop area today, I went in to Saver’s and though I didn’t find a CD/DVD album, I did find a pair of blue satin pillowcases (I need another couple of pairs but I was actually looking for flannel ones) and a little baby griddle! Cast iron, no less! I was looking for a frying pan about that size but all I could find were Teflon, and I don’t eat Teflon. And since this was Senior Tuesday, I got $10 worth of stuff for less than $6. WOOT!
So, I’m good. After my shower in the morning, I will head for Wally’s for some yogurt and rice pudding. Again.
Maybe I can even sleep in, tomorrow! WHOA! What a concept!
My hips have been bothering me a lot, lately and Charlie said his were too, but he thought it might be the humidity. At any rate, I’m going to take my achy hips and go to bed with some warmth!
So I’ll see all y’all tomorrow!
Achy-break hope?
Don’t think I know that one.
I mean hips!!
Phupid stone.
We have hopes for our hips!
We’re going to the gym in a little while. I’ll put in some time on the treadmill while reading my history book. That reminds me, I need to renew another of my library books; I’ve kind of lost interest in it, but I probably won’t have time to take it back until Thursday.
I'm glad that it's only my vehicle that has to occasionally go in for emission tests.
I'm pretty sure I personally would fail them.
Er, I mean freeze..
