Years and years ago, a swindler named Curtis Springer went out south of where I-15 now runs, and built a Hot Springs Spa on federal land without the Feds permission. His “Hot Springs” were created by boilers in the basement. He named the road so it would be (and still is) the last place on earth in the alphabet. When the Feds finally figured it out, they threw him off the land and took over his place. It’s now a Mojave Desert Study Area headquarters.
