After surgery, I'll be in the hospital for about five days. Not sure how much lucid time I'll have, but I want to take a good book. I like Nonfiction, History, Autobiographies, and of course, America.
The Good Book . . . especially if you have difficulty getting rest.
Honor Bound by W.E.B. Griffin
Good luck!
If it’s like most hospital stays, they won’t leave you alone long enough to read a book.
I’d just put the TV on CNN and go to sleep.
You mean, besides my “A Patriot’s History of the United States?”
Ok, Neal Gabler’s bio of Walt Disney, “Walt Disney.”
Paul Johnson’s great “Modern Times.”
ANY of the “Pendergast” series by Preston & Child.
And, (course, I’m a guy) anything by Nelson DeMille.
John Frost’s Pictorial History of George Washington.
I’ve been meaning to read it myself but I was told it’s one of the best bios of GW.
The Bible; start with Genesis.
I am not so much of a book reader, but do enjoy Readers Digest magazines. The articles are pretty short, nonfiction, sometimes uplifting. Also you might take some National Geographics and/or crosswords.
Best of luck on your surgery and recovery.
Re-read Herodotus’ Histories. Perfect for a convalescence!
“Business of May Next’ is an exceptional and pleasant Constitutional history book.

Louis d’Amour “Last of The Breed” is the best adventure novel I ever read. It is not a western, but an international novel about an Air Force pilot shot down by the Soviets and captured to be tortured for information. But he escapes and tries to get out. It is a book you won’t be able to put down so you may miss your sleep.
Hamilton by Ron Chernow
The world on the brink of WWI. This book was a great education for me.
Up From Slavery - autobiography of Booker T. Washington. An amazing, inspiring story. And free download to Kindle.
Have you read the diaries of Lewis and Clark?
The Siege of Mecca.
You will understand the ME much better after reading that book.
I’d bet the hospital has free Wi-Fi, I’ve taken my laptop or tablet for entertainment when jugged up there. Get well!
.
He said NON fiction, not comic books.
.
LS, I love Nelson DeMille and I’m a woman!
Anything but “The General’s Daughter.” uuughhhh
