I am the "kinda" campaign coordinator for a great guy that is running for public office in my state. That being said, I am looking for places to have events like town hall meetings.
Also, there is a potential legal issue for the church here.
Any time a non-profit entity that does not pay property taxes allows their facilities to be used in competition with a taxed, for-profit facility, they open themselves to an attack on their tax-exempt status.
Again, good luck.
Most restaurants have one or two nights a week that are slow. They may be happy to give you some room to bring people in and this is very common in Texas. I usually buy dinner for two just to keep the revenues going during the town hall. A lot of others do the same.
At present there is some concern that, if you rent the facility, it becomes a “public accommodation”, meaning you would be required to rent to anyone, including people/groups whose use would be inimical to your faith, similar to the gay wedding cake issue. May end up being adjudicated, but we are being told we can avoid the problem by not renting at all.
Eeeeewwwww, MAN HANDS!
“Churchs dont get involved in political campaigns.”
Actually, they do. Especially black churches.
