"I have no interest whatsoever in dressing Melania Trump"
Fashion functions as a reflection of the times that we live in, which is why it should come as no surprise that sartorial choices can be extremely political.
Michelle Obamas embrace of young American designers of color like Tracy Reese and Jason Wu during her two terms as First Lady or Melania Trumps choice to wear a dress to the RNC by Roksanda Ilincic, viewed as a nod to how Ilincics Serbian background paralleled Melanias own Slovenian upbringing. (Obama has also supported the popular designer.) A style decision at momentous public moments can speak a thousand words....

LOL Just saw that on the other thread. he photo in her shorts walking her dog was a sight to behold too.
That’s not Trump’s family in the picture, it’s Letiza the Crown Princess of Spain and Carla Bruni the wife of French President Nicolas Sarcozy. However that is Michelle’s bum. It’s an old picture taken at a summit in Italy or France, can’t remember which..
Those four are all so much better known than the ones who claim they will not “dress” Melania.
Thanks for the correction.
There are descendants of the conquering Spaniards who are of "white" European background, there are native American (indian) Mexicans, and there are mixed-race (mestizo) people in Mexico, for centuries.
Let’s face it - she could look good wearing a Michelle Obama original! Michelle didn’t, but Melania would.
You are boring. Stop being the grammar police. Live and let live.
Nice of them to let the First Lady know which designers to select from.
Sorry, but if you are going to slag people off ( I am not referring to you) & question how pure my conservative beliefs are then I have no problem expecting you to write decently. Boring, so be it. I do think there is a way to express a dislike for a woman without being absolutely rude. It’s not the sign of a gentleman. I am talking about the Chewbacca comments. I seem to be in the minority on this & that’s okay.
Oh, wow, leaning conservative. You must be new around here, where she's been called Chewbacca and a lot worse for years, not so much for her looks, but as a shorthand for 1) her first-among-equals communism and lavish waste of taxpayer money on narcissistic pleasures, 2) the ridiiculous media treating her as a fashion icon when what she wears is more often than not ludicrously inappropriate, and 3) her starving the little school-lunch children while treating herself to Wagu beef and sundry other high-dollar consumables. "Chewie" just says it all in fewer keystrokes.
Although I've only "met" him online at FR, manc is a great guy and he's family around here, grammar mistakes and all. We all have different gifts. Try to be thankful instead of prideful for your punctiliousness the Lord most probably meant it as a gift to you, not as a weapon against others.
That said, people don't mince words around here. You need a flame-retardant suit many daysit's the refining fire of grassroots conservative opinion. Nasty comments directed at oneself are against the rules. But laying it down to those who have been destroying our country is fair game.
Not new, but the comment just rubbed me the wrong way & no it is definitely not the first time I have heard it. I am no angel when it comes to making comments. I have quite my share of nasty, lowdown comments I have, often regretfully, made to people. And yes a flame retardant suit is deflinitely called for sometimes. But, please clear one thing up for me because it truly does baffle me. Why do people get called out on whether they are conservative enough, a true conservative, a fake conservative......the list goes on & on. I am going to assume that on any site, regardless of it being extreme right, extreme left or somewhere in between you are going to have people whose views run all across the board. To expect everyone to be in lockstep formation regarding their political leanings is unrealistic. Frankly FR should celebrate the fact that all of us have chosen FR......no matter where we are on the spectrum. I like to know what is going on on both sides of the political spectrum & I see the same thing on left sites......if people deviate from the party line they are called racists, fascists, etc. It doesn’t happen a lot, but when someone questions my beliefs it stings & really bites because none of us really know each other to the core. We have to trust what we are given.
Please remove my comments to manc. Thank you.
Wow, the Princess is a real princess.
She makes Michelle look like a lumbering bear.
The real question is “Would Melania wear the crap they design?” Her taste is impeccable, I just can’t imagine her in biome of that stuff.
I just saw this Albion. Why someone feels the need to attack someone based on a missing comma etc is beyond me.
I looked at the past comments, and saw how this person has just voted republican for the first time, yet has been on here for years.
If you are secure in your view of conservatism, someone else's online opinion really shouldn't matter and is probably a misunderstanding you can easily explain without getting defensive. But as for choosing FR and then expecting others on it to swing both ways on the political spectrum, good luck with that. The owner of this Forum has clearly delineated where FR stands in the political/social spectrum , and trying to convert the community towards opinions on the left or even the center-left is not only a gigantic waste of time, it is pernicious. The past election made clear the danger of flirting with the disastrous, marxist/collectivist views of the Democrat Party or the progressive movement just to "get along", "reach across the aisle" or think oneself sophisticated. It has been a slippery slope since WWII which would have ended in certain destruction of our nation, had Hillary won. At last we have a chance for a course correction. Everyone's thought and energy needs to be directed to the positive ways to build our nation and our morale back up. Fastidiousness over semi-colons does not add value.
Well said.
Well said.
I wasn’t clear w/ my thoughts then. I chose FR, but in the end it chose me because I feel that this is ultimately where my mind set has veered. I have voted Republican for other races, but never for president until this election.
Things that before I would have tolerated & even supported now make me angry: the extreme political correctness, the rioting that is now an accepted part of our culture......etc. etc. I will be forever thankful that Trump seems to have broken the Clinton machine.......that corrupt engine that seemed to be unbreakable.
Do I wish I had stayed w/ my original argument & not brought the whole grammar police thing in? Of course I do, but I did it out of anger which everyone can agree is not a good place to argue from.
As far as FR......I have no desire or want to bring in liberal ideology. I respect this forum for what it is & what it stands for & it has made me look at things in a completely different light. I would say it was one of the main sources for my political change.
