A Somali-American woman will be the first to compete in the Miss Minnesota USA contest while wearing a hijab and other modest Muslim clothing that keeps her fully covered. Nineteen-year-old Halima Aden of St. Cloud will be part of the competition Saturday and Sunday in Burnsville. In addition to her hijab, she'll wear a full-body outfit called a burkini during the swimsuit competition, and she'll modify evening gowns to be more modest.

As with anything that has Islam in it, it’s entirely political and aimed at reshaping your idea of beauty into one that includes the Islamic ideal. Once accepted, the next push to crowd out all alternatives to the Islamic ideal will begin.

This is a subversion of the intent of the pageant. If we want a religious pageant it would be different.

I will be playing Christian music, Jewish music, decorating with Christmas decorations. I just hope someone tries to destroy my Christmas.
I have no problem with that outfit. She can see; she can move; her clothes are modest, pretty and feminine.
It’s too bad the Muslim presence as a whole is not as benign as the young lady’s clothes.
