I liked “Event Horizon”, but as more of a horror sic-fi it seems more Haloweenish than Thanksgiving Dayish.

I hate that film. Gives me the creeps. And for thanksgiving? Why not just suggest Texas Chainsaw Massacre? How about something more uplifting?

Here’s “Hacksaw Ridge”, in theaters now...

How about,March of the Wooden Soldiers..... Now that is a Thanksgiving Day classic!
My favorite Thanksgiving movie is No Country For Old Men.
The heartwarming story of a boy searching for his family.
I don’t think I’ve seen it.
Is it 5 yo appropriate?

(I’m a big cartoon and comedy fan)
When I was a kid my parents used to watch some really depraved movie (can’t remember the name) every Thanksgiving. It was something about a child who was abandoned by her foster parents and ended up in a bizarre dystopian world, where witchcraft was glorified and people could be killed just to get their shoes. Oh, and there was this wicker-man like creature who was sneaking around looking for brains. And there was opium. And cowardice was a virtue.
Sick, I tell ya.
More in line with the holiday is ‘Desperate Crossing’ the untold story of the Mayflower (A&E 2006).
Well worth watching and bound to make us thankful for how far we have come since that era.
Had nightmares for weeks after watching it in the theater. Figured out why, awhile back, when I looked the movie up on a website. There's a flashback scene - hard to make out in the theater - that has stuff in it right out of Dante's Inferno.

That doesn’t sound like it will fit with most of my family this weekend.
But I have a recommendation for all who have Netflix. If you haven’t seen The Crown, (putting on queen Elizabeth’s accent now) “I highly urge you to do so.” Very well done series of 10 episodes about the Queen as a young lady. I know, that sounds boring as hell and I would never actually choose to watch it, but I promise you, it is extremely well done and never boring for one second. Acting is SUPERB. John Lithgoe plays Churchill. I look forward to watching an episode each night and we are about to finish. It would be a fun thing to binge watch over the weekend, and by Monday we would all be speaking like the Queen. The actress who plays her, and the dialog, is excellent. You won’t be disappointed.
“I dare say but it might be considered for an Emmy and deservedly so.”
Why? It’s an awful movie!
I just bought the Event Horizon DVD for $3 on Monday. I already had a VHS copy. I think it’s excellent science fiction. Good acting with a good story. I liked the space ships. Plus it’s creepy/scary.
It’s Thanksgiving so how about “Desperate Crossing”!
