It would be an import...with a 35% tariff.
So would we carve out Guantanamo exceptions like for the San Diego naval base and other US installations?
Can you even begin to imagine what their army would look like? Armed with bongs and d*ldoes?

Let the sissies and hippies try to enforce that
Can’t you just picture the newest conscript, dressed in pink. Shaking his (or is it “her) finger:
YOU JUST CANT DO THAT, YOU BAD BOY

Wasn’t there a secession movement by the right, also? Divide the state in two. Liberals in the south, so they can live with, and take care of via their own tax money, all of the illegals. Conservatives to the north!

Hmmmm...so much for Michelle running as California senator from her new Rancho Mirage base. ;)

They get their water and power from the USA. Whatever we lose in positive net tax revenue, we can make up in selling them water and that dirty, dirty old fossil fuel power that the NIMBY’d right out of the state.

The irony of it all.
Californians that can’t stand California move on to infest other states and with their California values wind up Kalifornicating such states.
Mexicans that cannot stand Mexico do the same with California.
I say let them go. It’s already Mexifornia.

Monumental waste of time. The Feds own way too much land on the Golden State to simply give up.
To: A_Former_Democrat
No. Why let immigrants, illegals and drug addled hippies make that decision?
Legal immigrants and drug addled hippies are legal voters, and there are too many of them now. Illegals are a problem, but Cali would still, almost certainly, be a deep blue state even without them in the mix.

And I guess all Nevada Hoover Dam power and the supplemental Texas supplied electricity will find a new market.

If you think there’s an exodus of productivity and businesses out of CA now, just wait until “Calexit” gathers some steam
Even the Latinos and Millennials will see the writing on the wall and GTHO
No way CA survives on its own. Will be a shell of its self

Illegals will vote in mass.
Yes and then they will vote not to join the Un but Mexico.

ie: Water supplies. Isn't CA dependent on runoff from the Rockies for water? Years ago there was speculation that the US in the future could end up in disarray over water rights across state, regional and even local lines.
CA would have to get really good, really quickly, at desalination if they were an independent nation. That, and they'd have to keep their invaders with CA driver's licenses.
Downside is something a poster pointed out a few days ago. If CA were in charge of CA, it would be a mess. Who knows what horrific groups would end up controlling it,?

There will be no “independent” California. If it breaks from the U.S., Mexico gets first dibs on its future. Any idea of “independence” is folly.
