Melania Trump’s approach when it comes to fashion, it seems, is that she’s above it. Her consistent aesthetic, one that’s timeless but never stodgy, signals a self-assurance and a confident ability to ride above the fast-fashion fray, perhaps thanks to her wealth, her sturdy place in the social hierarchy or her own experience in the fashion world.

Not the first time there’d be a fashion model in the White House. President Gerald Ford wore clothes very well, also.

perhaps thanks to her wealth,

I think not. perhaps it's a European influence, exposure to more classical designs, or just her personal taste. My mother (my parents did have money but were very frugal so they could retire comfortably) made most of her clothes but she always chose patterns from Dior, Givenchy and the like. Classic timeless styles that always look good. nice fabrics and flattering lines transcend the whims of "fashion".
