We seem to forget that SLAVERY still existed in the USA for many years. I just read that the US government forced the Indian tribes to give up some Mexican slaves as late as 1887.
Meanwhile, slavery, though banned, still existed in Mexico. Slavers made a raid on Navajos as late as 1866.
Apaches held many Mexican and Indian slaves at that time.

Slavery still exists in parts of Africa. Ever hear about it? No, as you don't hear about the awful treatment of women and gays in the Middle East. American socialists/feminists and the United Nations ignore it.
