Over the past week, my eight-year-old daughter had a persistent worry which my wife and I kept trying to tamp down: that if Donald Trump got elected, her friends with immigrant parents would be forced to leave the country.
We tried to reassure her that that was unlikely even if Trump won. But on Wednesday morning, after we told her Trump was indeed headed to the White House, there were tears nonetheless, and another heartbreaking expression of worry for her friends.
Parenting and politics collide. I hadn't even made a pot of coffee yet. There's been a lot written in the past few days about "What do we tell the children" in the face of a Trump. How do we address the rise of a man who says things they've known since pre-K they'd be suspended for saying themselves? There have been countless tweets and water cooler conversations between parents about how their kids are upset and anxious over a Trump victory.

Yes, the friend will be deported and back with her family.
If they aren’t here legally....
Is your little friend a lawbreaker? Start with that question.
“What do we tell the children” in the face of a Trump.
Its very simple, stupid, for the first time try telling them the truth and throw away that participation trophy!
I remember the Obama church hymns some kids in California sang in 2008. Terrible indoctrination.
Not a single legal immigrant will be deported. Not one. That’s what you tell her.
“No sweetie, if your friend and her family followed the rules to get into the country, then the rules prevent them from being deported.”
If she asked what happens if they didn’t follow the rules, ask her what she thinks should happen to people who cut in line. The answer you should have taught her by 8-years old is “They need to go to the end of the line and wait like those who are following the rules.”
He can adopt her friend and pay for the cost of raising her. Problem solved.
Now how about some ice cream!
From the article:
“We live in a mostly Latino neighborhood of largely Mexican and Salvadoran immigrants. Many of them don’t have papers.”
The author condones blatant lawbreaking in order to get the votes he needs to destroy the republic.
He won’t be deported, but maybe we can change the policies of blatant indoctrination that are prevalent at his daughter’s public school.
The Trump victory seems to have unleashed a flood of Parenting In Public, mostly of the ‘What do I tell my child?’ variety.
In other words, it’s poorly disguised narcissism...the same kind that has Facebookers posting two dozen photos per day of their little darlings doing absolutely naff all.
As the saying goes..."SUCKITUPBUTTERCUP".
Will my friend not be able to kill her baby in the womb when she’s older??
Oh God here it comes, the children the children!!! Sorry libs, that scam don’t work anymore just like the fake racism and the fake victimization.
I’ll admit I skimmed through the story but the first thing that stood out is word “undocumented” is absent, just “immigrants”.
Immigrant parents or criminal illegal aliens?
Here in NJ those illegals are the only thing keeping the government worker caste (especially teachers) collecting paychecks. Since they contribute nothing in the legitimate economy, American taxpayers are footing the bill.
Best answer is another question: Did your friend break the law?
Tell them to fear the politicians who allowed this problem to fester for decades in hopes of taking over the American electoral system. Many are still serving; many are zealously pursuing higher office.
“We live in a mostly Latino neighborhood of largely Mexican and Salvadoran immigrants. Many of them don’t have papers.”
