Most late-night shows were on hiatus on Election Night in favor of news coverage, so when they returned to their posts on Wednesday, they had plenty to talk about.
Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah aired live shows on Tuesday, sharing somber messages as well as their usual lighthearted jokes and monologues. Other hosts followed suit on Wednesday, including Samantha Bee, Conan O'Brien, Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert and James Corden.
On TBS, O'Brien spoke to his audience about history. "Today is a really strange day," said the host. "Half the country is really happy, half the country is somewhere between despondent and furious."
Speaking about history, he reminded the audience that "We have been here before. We have had bitter, angry elections for 200 years."
"In America, we get to choose who's going to ruin our country," he continued, saying that he chose to remain positive and be thankful "that we have fair and free elections at all."
Meyers' Late Night was largely a reflection on his coverage of Trump thus far and a hopeful message for the future first female president.
"Well, that was a real grab in the p----," Meyers began, adding that because he's been wrong on every single prediction he's had of Trump so far, "he's probably going to be a great f--king president."

Who are those people? Never heard of any except Conan O’Brien. Guess I live a great sheltered life not hearing or knowing about any of them.
Theses hosts should be happy, they can finally make jokes about the President again
Can’t wait to see SNL eat crow. I also have a skit recommendation - parody their own show, especially the lame music “talent” they feature.
I would have added:
But if things get really bad, we have plenty of those.
Huh? The Ep is part of the FC, not the SA, and Ep.X deals with rites in the Church, compared to, say, AC.XVI.
My best guess is that they are directed towards those with IQ's in the 15-to-30 range...
FC/SA Epitome X (commonly called ADIAPHORA)
Concerning ceremonies or church RITES which are neither commanded nor forbidden in ^^God’s Word^^, but have been introduced into the Church for the sake of good order and propriety, a dissension has also occurred among the theologians of the Augsburg Confession.
The chief question, however, has been, whether, IN TIMES OF PERSECUTION and in case of confession, even if the enemies of the Gospel have not reached an agreement with us [Lutherans]
- in doctrine
- some abrogated ceremonies
which, in themselves are matters of indifference [adiaphora] and are neither commanded not forbidden by God [Cletus Note: by God, not -specifically- Scripture] may nevertheless, upon the pressure and demand of [our] adversaries, be re-established without violence to conscience and we may thus (rightly) have conformity with them in such ceremonies and adiaphora.
Luther intended that the local congregations practice as they will (within the liturgical formula) yet, when accused of being an “outlier”, they shoold confidently embrace such practice and “dis-consider” the opinions of others.
In today’s world?
If you call me a racists (times of persecution)...I’ll call you a bigoted ni**er, regardless of your melanin content.
Cletus @28:
The context of Ep.X (also SD.X) are church rites and ceremonies, not the political issues, disagreements and name-calling within the secular world.
Hey O'Brien - it wasn't bitter or angry for me - it was joyous and happy. Most of us wanted to dance in the streets. Guess it's just perspective...
All we see on the news is the crying and sadness of liberal elites... as if they're the only people who matter to the media...OH WAIT - THEY ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO MATTER TO THE MEDIA... (I forgot - my bad) We're the 'deplorables'... sorry I forgot... don't know what got into me... Of course YOUR pain matters... ours doesn't ... YOUR joy matters... ours doesn't. How silly of me... to think I mattered - or that people like me matter.
