The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.

Prayers for your sister are on the way!
Saying prayers for both.
Thanks for the prayers. Hubby’s rye is already about an inch high. I’m about done with the garden outdoors, except for the lettuce etc. which I will cover with row covers, when the cold weather comes.
Thank you very much.
My tomatoes have slowed drastically. I knew they would as the nights here have been too cool for much.
Thanks for the prayers. We are getting ready for winter here too.
Thank you so much for the prayers.
It is always my pleasure to pray for my FRiends! :-)
Thanks for the prayers. Hubby likes the computer too much - which means he only half way elevates his feet. No sense arguing with him, he won’t listen.
I bought the lotion, and gave it to him - he’s way past the age of twenty - one, so it’s up to him. He sure won’t let me do it.
I baked a chicken too. We had a sale at the local store on chicken this week. One of the easiest and simplest things ever. Put a little olive oil on it, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and stick it in the oven on 350 degrees, for about an hour and half.
Slice off the breast meat, and dip it in the pan drippings- (Chicken au jus?) Eat all the crispy skin and savor it. LOL
I had tomatoes for the veggie, and a glass of whole milk. Savored that too. Was too full to eat anything else, since I had had a snack of nuts and cheese.
We also get a freeze around Oct. 15 most years. Not yet! Thank the Lord!
Inderminate tomatoes will continue indoors just fine. I have done something similar several times. In my case, I went out the night before a frost, and cut all the branches off the tomatoes that had flowers or green tomatoes.
Stuck them all in a bucket of dirt and brought them indoors, and kept them watered. They didn’t all survive, but enough did to form new roots, and then got even more flowers to make even more tomatoes.
I also turn the grow light on when the sun goes down till around 8 or 9 o’clock just like it was summer time. I did dig up a pepper plant one year and it did fine too. Fresh peppers and tomatoes for organic Vitamin C all winter. LOL
Thanks for the prayers. Good luck at the observation work. Stay safe.
Ha Ha. Thanks for the pic. I like it - suicide by 22.
Thanks.
Thanks for the prayers.
Still no frost in Northern Indiana. Dahlias are in full bloom and I'm supposed to wait 2 weeks after a killing frost to dig them. Neighbor said I will be digging them in 3 feet of snow!
It's so against my grain to pull out a blooming flower so the Marigolds are still there laughing at Jack Frost, as are the snapdragons which decided to bloom again.
I did get all the coneflowers and liatris cut down. That leaves all the hostas that need their scapes removed.
Marcia
Around here (Michigan) that is exactly what squirrels do to pumpkins.
