Did anyone else receive a Social Security Benefits bonus deposit last night? There is no explanation, of course, but it is for more than a few dollars. I would love to know what brought this on, other than a bribe by the Obama administration.
Thanks for your answer. I think that explains it. I don;t think that will apply to retirees with a fixed-amount SS.
Nope don’t know. But this is a new fiscal year for the USG. Could be a rebate from your monthly Medicare payments. Bribe to vote Democrat? First step in making you a willing gibsmedat? I got one too.
I guess so....how sad for us....ROFL...wonder if it was a bribe???
Now, if everyone here that gets the bonus would give contributions to this site and Trump, that would make each one feel great for it being because of Obama Administration.
I think I may have an insight into this.
I typically have my Medicare Insurance deducted directly from my SS before I ever see a direct deposit into my account. This month, the Medicare cost was deducted from my checking account separately. I expect that this cost will be included in my SS check. We’ll see.
They probably sent a letter explaining
“I wouldnt spend it just yet. They may decide it was a computer error.”
Repayment demands are scheduled to go out Nov 9th.
Maybe a gasoline subsidy.
I have paid in the maximum each year(both sides since I own the company)for 50 years so I am no thanking anyone.
Got one!
“”As usual...I just got a bone. Nothing, nada.””
And not even a scrap on the bone... How ‘ya been? I guess those of us who are FULLY retired won’t see anything as it looks like an adjustment for those still working and earning wages. It’s been 10 years since my husband and I retired and made the big move 3000 miles away. It doesn’t seem that long...
Well apparently, I got something but it wasn’t money!!! lol Not an extra dime went into my coffers.
Govt works in mysterious ways. You’re welcome.
I’m doing well, and hope the same goes for you and your family.
ML/NJ
Hope I get it soon, so I can see the full explanation.
Could be that at some time you indicated a desire to receive a lump sum payout of your SS account and stop the monthly payments.
So, what appears to be a bonus, in reality you zeroed out your account............
should have gotten it a month or so ago
“Anyone know what this is for?”

I think that the Social Security Administration recomputes the monthly benefit for folks who have had an additional year of earnings that wasn’t factored into the original computation & that can result in a somewhat higher monthly benefit ongoing. Plus a separate “retroactive” payment for the amount of monthly increase times several months (back to January?). The “bonus” may that retroactive payment.
Or maybe it’s a bribe. /sarc - just kidding
