I am in Florida but far away from Matthew’s path. I sure hope it stays a good ways off the coast.

Live central Merritt Island. Family members talked it over. We decided to board up windows and stay. Been in same house 36 years and never left before. But we know, we’ve never had a storm of this magnitude. Have until Thursday afternoon to make up mind to leave or not. Have daughter who lives on east side of Orlando and that’s where I’ll run to.

My niece is in Pt St Lucie and she is bunkered down in her 3rd floor apt. Her 2 oldest girls have gone through hurricanes before, but her 7 yo son is autistic and is terrified because all he has heard at school and on TV. Couldn’t get no batteries or nothing but her ex was “nice” enough to bring by two flashlights and a few gallons of water for her and the kids. Needless to say I started out the week worried about my new Uninsured home in the coastal Carolina’s. (NC), now we will be worried about my niece and the kids. Prayers to all in Matthew path!
Keep me included. My not-too-bright ex and dogs are going to ride it out in Melbourne.

Move to safety my FRiend. You can replace a home. You can not replace your life. Err on the side of caution. Prayers up for you, your family, and your home.
2 friends in NOLA, men in their 70’s, lived all their lives there, never evacuated for a ‘cane, even Camille. At the last minute they left before Katrina. Memory is that both were out of their homes for a year or two for repairs. You have to be smart about this. And your daughter would be thrilled to have quality time iwth you!!
I’ve got a good friend there, right on the beach. He sent me an email showing expected surf forecast at 3AM Friday of 16’-25’. Yikes! I don’t think he’ll be out surfing in that.
I think his parents still live in Winter Park, hopefully he’s headed there.
