Whither Trump TV Ads?
vanity | October 2, 2016 | Mr. Chips

OK, so yes, I fully understand that some of you think TV Ad spending a waste of time. No need to tell me again. I disagree. True, people's eyes glaze over whenever they see yet another Hillary Ad (or they reach for Pepto Bismol). But, the Trump ads I have seen are inspiring, and the Ads he has run about Hillary are funny. Trouble is, I have seen very few. I read on here today that Trump has just taken out a $140,000,000 Ad buy. Can anyone substantiate that? And what Ads are all of you seeing? (I am in Georgia, not likely to be bombarded with Trump Ads).

I don’t watch much “real” TV but I’ve been seeing Trump ads fairly often on Youtube.

Here in SW Ohio, there’s been a few in the last 10 days or so...but I also don’t watch too much TV.

So I’d guess he’s ramping up TV commercials to reach those that are not on internet 24/7, watch cable news or watch rallies on Right Side.

I can only comment on Tennessee, but Trump does not need to burn money here. We’ll be among the first states called on Election Day and we’ll be called for Trump. I’m proud to say all 11 of our electoral votes will go. For Trump.

Lots of people don’t watch TV, many are streaming.
Many of those who do watch TV use their DVR’s...they don’t watch the commercials, that’s why they DVR.

Those who watch TV straight, surf when the ads come on.
TV ads are dinosaur media advertising.

I said it’s both... the ads reinforce the disgraceful media bias, when it comes to the stupid steeple that easily fall for these lies

For one thing, Mississippi is not a state that needs him spending his resources on, since Mississippi is pretty much in the bag for the Republicans. Nor is it considered a battleground state.

I don’t watch a lot of TV, but here in Maine, I started seeing Trump TV ads several days ago.

I’ve seen four of them so far; one shows Trump speaking at one on his rallies with a Mexican woman and a black guy singing Trump’s praises. I’ve seen this ad three times.

Another ad is a negative ad against Hillary, showing the rise of ISIS and videos of Hillary making her infamous “deplorables” remark and a video of her complaining “Why am I not leading by 50%?”

I sure hope Mr. Trump is gearing up for a carpet bombing of the country with TV and radio ads.

I think TV ads are a complete waste of money. No different than flushing money down a toilet or shoveling it into the fireplace.

We saw how Jeb Bush and other GOPe candidates got utterly destroyed by Trump despite running hundreds of millions of dollars in ads.

Now Crooked Hillary is running hundreds of millions of dollars in ads and she continues to drop in the polls.

I hope Trump runs ZERO ads from now until November 8th. Tell the MSM to go stick it. Money can be much better spent on social media, rallies and GOTV activities.

Why feed the MSM beast?

In this day and age, nobody is going to change their vote based on a damn TV ad. Most people stream through Netflix or DVR their programs so they can FF through the ads. Nobody watches the damn things. Total waste of money.

Crooked Hillary could spend one trillion dollars on ads between now and November 8th and still lose. Donald Trump can spend ZERO dollars on ads and still win.

Oh, also during the Ryder Cup ... I think 2 ads pro-Hillary — “for the children” but they were pretty bad, sounds like robotic script-reading

And I can’t believe she didn’t burst into flames on the “all children/God-given right” line... guess that only applies to the ones that aren’t “inconvenient” or “punishment” and get ripped apart at PP

There are still a lot of people that had no internet.., also, I don’t see how effective internet ads are.... ads work... they always have.. they can help improve Trump’s image, and further take down her ratings.... he has the cash... where is it better spent? Ground game? Lol. Sorry, just my opinion

None here in California, although that is not a surprise. I am not sure Trump will be doing national ads (ie. TBS) like Hillary has been all summer. Been seeing those on TBS. I'm starting to wear out the Mute button on my remote. :(

Amazingly, I received an email today from the Trump campaign to help out in other states (Nevada and Colorado). First one I have ever received via email from any political candidate or party (been online for nearly 20 years). Since I am not seeing much of his campaign here in California (nor would I expect it), it's hard to want to commit the time.

It must be nice to live in a state where you actually have some say in your state and local campaigns. We get to choose between two DEMs for our US congressional seat (Just like in 2014), and we're not even close to most liberal US congressioanal district in California.

I believe that Trump is not running a large number of ads now because they will effectively make no difference against Hillary because she’s locked in at 42-43 percent now and nothing will change that.

Follow me here. I work in insurance, and basically everyone hates insurance companies, but you still need insurance. Same as with a President. You may not like him or her but we have to have a President. We spend millions of advertising dollars on every type of insurance product which are all just variations of a basic insurance policy, whatever your need may be. Most fail because the product sucks. Again, it’s all just a variation on the same thing. Hillary is your basic garden variety insurance product, i.e. A typical politician. No amount of money Trump spends is going to make her less acceptable to the 43% and no amount of money she spends is going to make more people buy her product.

Trump knows this as a businessman. What he also knows is that you close a sale in 1 of three ways. You offer a superior product, you advertise the hell out of it and make people think they need it, or you sell through word of mouth. Trump has 1 and 3 covered. His internals are probably showing him in a solid position even though early voting has begun, hers, not so much as evidenced by her spending everywhere. He will in all likelihood advertise the hell out of himself with about 14 days left, create a demand for his superior product and convincing you that you need it, all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

North Carolina is up in the air. I don’t watch local TV, so I don’t know what they’re showing, but there was nothing in an SEC football game (although I don’t know about the NC game, because it had ended).

Spot on Robert! Trump is a businessman, not a politician. He does not waste money. His Ads will run in only those locations which are in play. No point in Ads in CA.

Not needed in states where the state is not a battleground state, a state that is guaranteed to vote Republican, of states that are guaranteed to vote Democrat. Total waste of resources.

For example, Mississippi, went for McCain in 2008, and Romney in 2012. California last went for a Republican in 1988 for Ronald Reagan, so it is pretty much assured to go Clinton.

Why throw money at sure things? Donald knows what he is doing, trust me.
