After reading earlier today about people wanting to help with the bill for housing pit bulls being evacuated from Montreal, it would appear we’ve found a partial fix.
It’s amazing how nature provides, at times.
PLEASE, if you're NOT SURE you want the responsibility of a FUREVER FRIEND, DO NOT GET ONE! If you do, RESCUE FROM ONE OF THE SHELTERS. DO NOT GO TO A PET STORE OR A FOR-PROFIT "PUPPY MILL. IT ONLY ENCOURAGES THEM TO BREED MORE SHELTER AND HEART NEEDLE-STICK SHELTER DOGS NOBODY WANTS! And if you do rescue, PLEASE SPAY OR NEUTER so scenes such as that below can end once and for all!
And if this image fails to move you, you probably lack the sensitivity to care for an animal so DO NOT GET ONE! Let's work very hard to put those shelter executioners OUT OF BUSINESS!!
Montreal pit bulls need assistance:

I’ve taken about all I can, but my love goes to each one of them. They are truly a gift from God.
This is so sad.
Please get your pets fixed so that these poor animals don’t end up like this!
What is odd is people used to automatically assume I was a dog person.
Some like kitten but I think it is too boney even when stewed
As I told a coworker, I have not gone to the shelter to get a new furry friend in decades. That is because I take whatever shows up in my yard—I’m not picky.
The last of my yard kittens is now 10 years old. I still call him my baby.
Adopting now. Kittens for Mittens Inc.
One of our (fixed) male cats has brought in 3 kittens. Something must have happened to their mama as we haven’t seen her in a while. If these ever decide we’re ok, we’ll have 7 cats. They’re food bowl is on the porch but if I’m not watching, they come inside to eat from our cats’ and dogs’ bowls.
Two are peeking at me through the window...
Ack, one ran off as I started down the steps. The other took off when I was 6 feet away. I’ve been working on them for over a month. Way too skittish.
I did volunteer work at an animal shelter a few summers ago. They made it very hard to adopt a pet. Applicants have to sign an agreement that many didn’t want to sign and I think many had no intention of respecting. They don’t really “own” the animal and can’t give it away, they must agree to home visits and inspections, provide evidence of medical care (the vet reports to the shelter), and if the animal needs too much medical attention the shelter can demand its return.
Some people don’t want to get attached to a pet with terms like that. They’re only “foster care” serving the shelter.
Heads up notice:
The LA County animal shelter in Lancaster has 50 German shepherds surrendered and impounded in a hoarding situation.
The German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County went up there today and got four out. More are being saved on Sunday. But our rescue cannot save all fifty.
