LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) Los Angeles animal shelters say they are awash in kittens and in need of foster parents to help care for the kittens until they reach eight weeks of age, the Department of Animal Services said Friday.
The Department of Animal services said it has thousands of kittens under its care each year and currently has hundreds of kittens in need of fostering.
The shelters are looking for volunteers who can care for the kittens until they are 8 weeks old. At that age, the kittens can be spayed or neutered and sent to a new home. Foster care volunteers are given training, for example, in how to bottle feed kittens who are not able to eat independently.

I did volunteer work at an animal shelter a few summers ago. They made it very hard to adopt a pet. Applicants have to sign an agreement that many didn’t want to sign and I think many had no intention of respecting. They don’t really “own” the animal and can’t give it away, they must agree to home visits and inspections, provide evidence of medical care (the vet reports to the shelter), and if the animal needs too much medical attention the shelter can demand its return.
Some people don’t want to get attached to a pet with terms like that. They’re only “foster care” serving the shelter.
You need the new ‘asian cook book 101 WAYS TO WOK YOU CAT.
Heads up notice:
The LA County animal shelter in Lancaster has 50 German shepherds surrendered and impounded in a hoarding situation.
The German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County went up there today and got four out. More are being saved on Sunday. But our rescue cannot save all fifty.
Today I had parish pastor bless my cats living with me at home. I would bring the cats in carriers, but with my disability and cats have as much fun riding in carriers just as much as I would have fun waiting in line to ride a popular Disney ride.
Have a wonderful St. Francis of Assisi, partron saint of animals feast day. :) =^..^=
Thank you, I will. And you as well. :-)
What I hate about rescue places for kittens is that they insist on not trusting the new owner and so they spay and neuter WAYYY too soon. Many females die from the early spaying. It’s horrible. I understand the thought behind it but if you kill the cat...
