RIO VERDE, AZ - It was an epic battle between two rattlesnakes and it was all caught on camera.
The wrestling match went down Wednesday night, in the backyard of a home near Dynamite and Pima.
Bryan Detwiler says his patio became a ring-side seat.
There has never been a snake that didn’t deserve a good killing. I do resist the urge though with useful ones like black snakes though all brands scare my wife and make her paranoid about going out for long periods of time after she sees one. Rattlesnakes not so common but copperheads and cottonmouths are seen often in the right places. Cottonmouths, though slow, are the ones I hate. Stink and agressive.
Too bad they can’t shoot without missing. Great that they’re not in the USMC!
Actually, it tastes better than chicken!
I don't really mind snakes - they tend to get rid of pests. One of my older brothers though got bit by a copperhead in WV a while back - right through his jeans. They were hiking some land they were thinking of buying. He had a pretty large medical bill from what I remember (this was before Obama fixed health care).
Hard to miss using a shotgun.

Tastes like chicken?
No. Well, maybe to the unsophisticated palate. Welcome to my rattlesnake recipe website. I love the taste of game. Pheasant, wild boar, caribou, and of course, rattlesnake. When in the southwest there is nothing more, well, southwest - than dining on a delicious rattlesnake meal.
It has a very gamey flavor. Almost a delicate seafood-like taste, depending on how it is served. A little like alligator, a little like quail, a little like frog legs. But then again, not quite like any of those. It really is unique and needs to be tasted when cooked in a lightly spiced dish to be appreciated.
Oh, sure - you can spice it up if you want. You can substitute it for any other meat in lots of recipes. You can make a rattlesnake burger and cover it with barbeques sauce if that's your thing. Many rattlesnake recipes are nothing more than a spicy meat dish with snake substituted for the beef, pork, chicken, or seafood.
But you are going to miss out on the wonderfully unique rattlesnake flavor if you do that. The snake should be boiled and/or simmered first so you can remove the meat from the bones. So boil it with a little bit of spice and some lemon juice and taste it before proceeding with your masterpiece.
Go ahead and try some of the wonderful recipes on this site. Your taste buds will thank you!

I ate it once. I wasn’t all that impressed. Kinda like a turkey neck. Mostly gristle.
I have had that happen shooting at a snake. He was too close to use the sights.
Had it in Florida as an appetizer .... very chewy ...had to douse it in BBQ sauce. Not exactly 4-star.

I hate snakes so bad I don’t know how much is hate and how much is fear. But I will say I love to kill them.
I was deer hunting in south Texas and I was walking back to camp I surprised a rattle snake. He was so surprised that he was up on his tail wiggling around. I shot him with my rifle from the hip but it took a couple of shots before I got him.
He was a small one, only about 3 or 4 feet long.
That looks like Pythons doing the same thing, or mating. Time to break out my 16 gauge...
