My grandma Rose’s best friend was a bookmaker with two mafia sons and she got arrested at 83 for bookmaking :)

LOL! Our ancestors did everything they could to survive - even if they weren’t the nicest people. You can’t always be nice to survive, prosper and raise kids in the world of 19th-early 20th century America. Unless you were Sam Levinson’s mom (remember him?)
