That being said, I think I see your earlier point: that large crowds for an execution may be incidental (the case you cited had a female sheriff, because the original sheriff, her husband, had died in office, and she asked someone else to perform the execution).
It would have saved time & effort of this back-and-forth if you'd spelled that out explicitly.
