That's not an implausible scenario.
Sunday morning here in the NYC area was cloudy early on, then the clouds lifted and the humidity dropped quickly. She might have been caught out in the sun unexpectedly.

I checked out the photos of her during the day and the sun never hit her.
Even waiting at the van, there were NO shadows.
