The baby and mother have arrived in Bahrain via helicopter with a medical escort and have been taken to a shore-based hospital for follow on care," Urban said in an email to The Virginian-Pilot.
"The family practitioner aboard Ike, who delivered the baby, is certified in child birth and has experience delivering babies. A number of personnel assigned to Ike medical department have received training to deliver and care for a newborn."
The Navy requires annual health examinations and for expectant mothers to self-report pregnancy within two weeks of confirmation from a medical care provider, according to Navy Personnel Command.
But Urban said the sailor's chain of command wasn't aware of the pregnancy. It wasn't immediately clear Monday whether the sailor herself knew she was pregnant.

Bringing Da Projex to the 7 Seas..?
GHETTO FACTOR: 101%
I can’t for the life of me figure out why China, Russia or Iran HASN’T BOMBED THE SH*T OUT OF US YET.
Because they are sailorettes.
Hard to believe a 7 lb. baby comes out of an active duty sailor without several people knowing it, especially the mother. There was a conspiracy to hide this situation. This is not like those cases where the mother is huge or very dumb. This mother is fit and not too large. And must be reasonably intelligent. And she would not have been bunking alone.
She must have bin a big’un that no one else noticed.
“well, that is a new way to avoid sea duty.”
Not new at all. Women have been getting deliberately knocked up to avoid sea duty for as long as women have been getting sea duty.
>>The baby and mother have arrived in Bahrain via helicopter with a medical escort and have been taken to a shore-based hospital for follow on care,
>Now our Navy is in the business of child care and motherly duties. Brilliant.
Would you prefer that they had simply thrown the baby overboard?
>Would you prefer that they had simply thrown the baby overboard?
No, but if every American birth required such radical action we’d be extinct by now. If you expect such follow on care don’t rock the boat at sea and keep it in your pants or use birth control.
one more anchor baby.. :-}
Who;s da DaDDy?
Thanks ... Yeah. Old term made more sense.
FUBO.

The only women wo do not, know they are pregnant are almost always very overweight already. They also must have weird periods.
You are surprised that they have a physician aboard an aircraft carrier?
A wise policy.
I’m surprised they have a “family practice” physician aboard a WARship.
