Masakela played the horn riff in the Byrds song: “So You Want to Be a Rock ‘n’ Roll Star”. His contribution really made the song stand out and it was the first time I ever heard of him. Been a fan ever since.

I had no idea he made that earlier an entry to the western music scene. My respect for the man just ratcheted up a couple notches higher.

Grazin’In The Grass by Hugh Masekela led me to listen to this song by Bony James..both of these versions are delicious to listen to.
