When you remove the symbolism and meaning to not offend anybody, you remove the meaning and reason to see it.
I was waiting to see it on DVD but I guess I'll skip it and get out my Blu-Ray version of the Charlton Heston movie instead.
Have you seen it? It is actually pretty good, though somewhat gory.
I went to see it. The Christian symbolism is more notable in this version then the original. I enjoyed it.
Should have titled the movie “Ben-Ghazi” It would have gotten more play!
And in the process end up offending everybody.
I’ve not seen it, nor will. How did it remove the symbolism?
Part of the power of the two earlier versions is that the chariot races were actually performed by the actors and stunt men. This CGI nonsense is destroying any sense of reality or the excitement of the movies. They’ve got to get rid of it.
My husband is a film teacher and he has to tell kids that Keaton and Harold Lloyd really did perform those extreme stunts.
Also, the writer of the article is an idiot. It is not an ancient story; it was a novel written by a Civil War commander named General Lew Wallace.
