That’s still not the same. What the equivalent is that someone takes out the USB ports from your laptop today and tells you to print wirelessly because [it’s the current year!], but you have a printer....and no built-in Wi-Fi.

And taking away the audio jack still has “jack” to do with helping mobility. The device had BT before, along with wired audio. Now it has NO headphone jack.

You can spin it all you want, but it isn’t insta-ancient because that’s the line you need to parrot because Apple put you in the position of having to do so.

Not equivalent at all, not the same. All my printers have built-in Wi-Fi. Regarding the iPhone 7, it comes boxed with the adaptor so you can connect your old devices - you're not losing connectivity at all. You can spin it all you want, but you're just an anti-Apple bigot who hawks Chinese and Korean products.

Got no dog in this fight.

The ‘air buds’ do make me think of Gillette’s old razor blade marketing strategy though...

If I had only short flights, that could work. I get the pleasure of flying to Hong Kong every month, and that’s a 15 hour slog one way. And then I often have to travel domestically inside China - and those airlines (and many other intra-Asia airlines) do not allow any Bluetooth operation.

Wired still has quite a bit of viability! Not sure what was really gained by removing the jack - it’s a thicker phone, not enough volume gained to do really anything with battery capacity (around 0.5cc volume gained), and not a leak potential (at least not for the 20+ other phones that are waterproof and have 3.5mm jacks).

I have multiple audio devices and a huge headphone collection from high end down to dollar store earbuds, and this is the first time I’ve ever heard someone getting dirt clogged in their audio jack that much where you rather not have an audio jack.

That's why Apple included the 3.5mm female jack to Lightning adaptor. You aren't paying attention. There are legitimate reasons to eliminate the internal analog jack. You sound exactly like the Luddites who argued loudly and vociferously when Apple dropped the floppy disk drive in favor of the CD drive. . . then argued the same about dropping the optical drive in favor of the USB flash drives. Technology moves onward.

Cash grab.

In your first post, you claimed that Apple had removed the audio jack as a "cash grab" but that is ridiculous. Apple has replaced a 10¢ part and a 10¢ jack on the earbuds with a $10 jack with additional internal electronics to convert digital electronic signals to an analog audio sound AND are including those new earbuds with that jack at no additional cost. . . and then they are ALSO including a Lightning to 3.5mm analog converter, with the ancillary processing for that conversion, free of charge in the box with the new iPhones. How, pray tell, is that a "cash grab?"

“it comes boxed with the adapter so you can connect your old devices “

Ok... So an extra thing to carry and keep track of when that ability was built-in.

“but you’re just an anti-Apple bigot...”

You seriously sound like a SJW, dude. Apple is not a freaking race, genius. Are you seriously trying to act like you are some ethnic group based on your purchasing habits?! LOL!

“It is our duty to fight for Apple! Ii is our duty to wiiiiiiiin!”

Where and who do you thinks manufactures your iProducts? Where do you think Apple licenses a bunch of their tech?

“How, pray tell, is that a “cash grab?””

They tell their sheep that it is an improvement.

Those sheep tell themselves that until they believe it.

And you show up to buy it.

“That’s why Apple included the 3.5mm female jack to Lightning adaptor.”

Needless extra adapter to restore functionality we are told we don’t need.

“There are legitimate reasons to eliminate the internal analog jack.”

No there isnt. Apple just told you they are doing it, and you invent the reasons so you dont find yourself thinking something they did was stupid.

“You sound exactly like the Luddites who argued loudly and vociferously when Apple dropped...”

That is not an argument. The wired headphones have not been “replaced” with an improvement. The ability to use them has been needlessly retarded for no legit reason, as you plainly didn’t state any in your last post.

“Technology moves onward.”

What TECHNOLOGY IS MOVING ONWARD?

Wow, talk about “moths drawn irresistibly and mindlessly to the light”. 10 out of the first 48 posts in this thread were authored by you - someone who states they have zero interest in Apple products for himself. For someone not interested you seem to be pretty compulsive with your posts to an Apple thread. On the other hand perhaps, like the moth, you are irresistibly attracted to the light of Apple’s products and just haven’t accepted your attraction yet.

Battery tech runs virtually unchanged from the 19th century.

Sound recording and transmission (radio) is also about as old as the airplane.

AC and DC to charge your phones also is as well.

All three of those have changed drastically since 100 years ago. Or do you maintain we still mechanically record sound on wax cylinders or disks? Nice try, no banana.

If they DO have a lightning to aux adapter, how will you charge your phone while listening to music?

And where do you put the floppy disk?

seriously, smartphones are a commodity.

Only in the Android market. Apple doesn't play there.

“All three of those have changed drastically since 100 years ago. “

The basics are still the same. Which was the point. Just like headphones have seen advancements for an “100-year-old” technology.

Dont play stupid, Swordmaker.

it seems Bluetooth makes a hackable avenue for the uninvited.

They tried to use Bluetooth for a Computer Virus on the Mac several years ago. Did not work. Apple signs the connections and will not allow non-signed connections.

Bigot”? LOL Ok, Apple SJW. Whatever you say. I guess I should have given you a trigger warning that you might hear something that goes against your dogma so you get your safe space ready

LOL! Taking out the audio jack is not “technical improvements that push technology forward to the future” anymore than taking out the screen is. Apple just did it....and you dutifully praise it.

Exactly what technology is being pushed into the future? The technology of inconvenience?

Why are you complaining? You don't use an iPhone and you won't buy an iPhone 7, but here you are screaming your fool head off about something that will not ever impact your pansy bottom as if it is a personal affront to you. Why? What skin is it off your nose? What insult have YOU suffered that you are so butt hurt? Why are you ALWAYS being a rude Troll in Apple threads, telling us we are so stupid as to like Apple products and the changes to technology they make?

You aren't going to be inconvenienced a single whit by Apple iPhones not having a 3.5mm headphone jack. But you are complaining as if you lost your dearest friend. Why?

Did they forget how much Apple paid for a headphone company just a couple of years ago?

No, but it was not just a headphone company, it was also a streaming music company, and Beats already has a line of Lightning headphones and another line of BlueTooth wireless headphones. . . As do many other competitors. So that is a non-starter.

Like the other anti-Apple Hate Brigade members, you choose to ignore anything that doesn't fit your meme. Such as "Apple included a Lightning to 3.5mm Jack adaptor." That covers your useless and snide comment.

Calling it “100 year old technology” just radiates the ignorance Apple users are projecting to spin this dumb idea.

It is really older than 100 years and it is analog. Do they really pay you enough to try and think up insults for no other reason than they are insults? In a phone where space is at a premium the old analog jack took up a lot of prime Realestate.

Like every other time Apple has killed of worthless technology there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth, then there will be acceptance and when everyone else makes the same move there will be praise.
