Microsoft owns the desktop. Android owns mobile. What those two have in common - they supported open hardware, made sure to support as wide a pool of hardware platforms as possible. Closed systems just don't stand the test of time.

Interesting, I know very, very few people who have Android devices; almost everyone I know has Apple. anecdotal, but interesting.

I love the customization of Android and the variety/prices of the phones that run it. I can upgrade every 6 months if I want, and it will cost me almost nothing.

As for iphones, it’s niche. Most of the people I know who own one are shallowbama and in debt up to their iBalls.
