Many millennials hate interacting with people, according to a new survey. Nearly a third of people 18 to 24 prefer ordering from the drive-thru at restaurants because "they don't feel like dealing with people," according to a study by Ohio-based Frisch's Restaurants, which owns and franchises 120 Big Boy Restaurants. That's bad news for fast-food employees.

The last two times I entered my bank to get help, I walked right up to the customer service desk (not the teller: they just handle simple transactions). I’m a customer and I needed help doing something, I went to customer service (of course).
Both times was the same response: “You should use our mobile app. The mobile app does that. Have you used the mobile app? The mobile app is the best way to do that. It’s very efficient. Mobile app.”
My spoken response: “I don’t have a smart phone.”
Their response: “I can’t help you.”
My unspoken response: “The bank needs to fire you and replace you with a tape recorder which says: “You should use our mobile app. The mobile app does that. Have you used the mobile app? The mobile app is the best way to do that. It’s very efficient. Mobile app.”
So much cheaper.
I’m ‘gen x’ and I agree. I don’t even buy gas in NJ. I was glad when ATT got automated operators in the 80’s so I “wouldn’t deal with humans.”
I can still chat up Thai gals from my 3 years of living in Thailand. I have to use a lot of Thai humor when my Thai wife is around, LOL. Very gracious people if you even attempt to speak the language.
How hard is it to say "fill 'er up" in Pakistani?
Don’t know. I only know curse words in urdu.
Sounds like heaven on Earth. I live in a small town, too, but it’s not as nice as that. In fact, it has all the drawbacks of a city.
The problem is that so many of these so called millennials are narcissists. They truly believe that they are better than everyone else, and therefore shouldn’t be bothered with speaking with anyone unless they need something.
I only deal with clerks if they’re cute or hot, but if not, FU I;m heading to the machine.
“Maybe drive-throughs and regular restaurants need to create safe spaces for the widdle darlings.”
We need to make “fight club” a required course K-12.
As I like to say, we have the technology to put a man on the moon, but we don’t seem to be able to make drive-thru intercoms that sound better than a cheap dawn of time transistor AM radio from 1966.
Oh, we couldn’t put a man on the moon today...
Sadly, you are correct. What man has done, man can aspire to . . .
I think we should probably chalk it up to Mr. Pesci and his screen writers then. I didn’t really know who said it, and I didn’t look it up.
LOL...Well, it sounds like something Carlin would’ve said also...
