Does anyone know how to get out of a two year contract with Hughes net.
The satellite service is terrible and they steal time.
Is there anyone out there that has gotten their contract cancelled?
Done, settled for a two hundred dollar fee, 250 less than court.
File complaint with BBB. State it is ongoing problem. Keep a log of dates with outages and phone calls. Don’t want to see you stuck with cancellation.
Doesn’t cellular data cost a fortune? What about streaming video? Doesn’t that eat up all your data for a month in like a day? May I ask the details of your provider and plan please? Feel free to FReepmail.
Thanks.
AT&T. Two LG G4’s plus a MyFi hotspot and 40 gig of data. $266 per month total.
You can forget about stuff like Netflix, but we do a lot of social media, FR, etc. and I watch a fair amount of youtube videos.
We often find ourselves having to be careful the last day or two because it’s $15 for an extra gig. And you can’t “opt out” of it.
One month we used up 90% in about five days because something went kinda goofy. We throttled the heck out of ourselves the rest of the month and did not go over. But it was hawrd. :-)
I have the my-fi connected to my desktop via USB and the printer hardwired to the desktop. It allows my wife to print via wi-fi to the My-fi.
I say that because I’ve learned to turn off the USB connection (you can select “charge only”) so that if my wife wants to print she just turns that on, and then turns back off. Other than that, she gets full wi-fi connectivity to the internet.
Then, when I want to use internet on my desktop, I switch it on. I turn it back off when I’m done. This prevents stuff from happening when I’m not using the computer. No windows updates, no torrent uploads, no nothing.
Why is Hughes so bad while DirecTV is so good. DirecTV may be expensive (they have rigged their packages and add-ons) but their service is excellent with outages only in a torrential rainstorm, and their customer service is the best.
change your package to the BARE minimum....what? $9.00-19.00/mo? Then let the 2 years expire. If the cost of the contract cancellation fee is less than the remaining time left on bare services, then you just pay the contract breaking fee. Tell them you are going on vacation or a different job that you don’t need as much air time or bandwidth.
Get a ham radio license and get internet over the air via HMSS-MESH.
Good luck sweety, They’re the worst organisation I’ve ever dealt with. The Soros of the Internet.
Thank you!
Please tell us more, can you use Prime or Netflicks with that service? What is the cost? How difficult is it to get a ham license?
After you get your ham tech (try to go for general so you can pick up HF bands)....go to THIS SITE to learn about ham radio-interent linking through HMSS-MESH. There are others also.
