(CNN) One Ithaca College student was killed and another was injured after being stabbed during a "large fight" on the nearby Cornell University campus early Sunday in Ithaca, New York, officials from both schools said.
Cornell University Police were called to the intersection in front of Olin Hall, which houses Cornell's school of chemical and biomolecular engineering, just before 2 a.m. There, they found two men had been stabbed, according to a police news release.

"Anthony Nazaire, 19, of Brooklyn, died. He was a sophomore studying business administration. He graduated from Brooklyn Theatre Arts High School, and at (Ithaca College) he was a member of the executive board of Brothers4Brothers, a student organization dedicated to empowering men of color on our campus."
How, exactly, do they "empower" people? Agitating and community organizing? Slip them weapons?
Better article on the NY Daily News. The dead kids seems to be a genuinely good person according to that story. Ithaca College student from Brooklyn fatally stabbed during fight on Cornell University campus
"...a public information officer at the Ithaca Police Department said several hundred students attended an Omega Psi Phi event at Willard Straight Hall and the stabbing took place as the event dispersed." -- from The Ithacan
"...Nazaire had just returned to Ithaca to start his sophomore year, where he was studying business administration on a full scholarship to the $40,658-a-year university. ... His death marks the first homicide in Ithaca in nearly five years. -- NY Post
You can take the boy from the hood. But you can’t take the hood from the boy.
The event was sponsored by the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. That’s a black fraternal organization.
2 AM after a large black event lets out...not the best place to be.
The Ithaca Voice reported that sophomore Anthony Nazaire, 19, was the student who passed away. From the pic, [Anthony was black.]
Not as much of a mishmash as it might seem. Cornell is the dominant institution in the area, but is located in the city of Ithaca, which is also the home of a much smaller educational institution by the name of Ithaca College. Ithaca can be used to refer to either the town or the college.
I thought the second line was “’neath three feet of snow”
Ironically, now I’m located several hundred miles pretty near due north.
When I went to college (a very prestigious one), quite a few black students liked to hang out with black locals, some of them very thuggish looking, and some outright thieves. They would invite them into the dorms.
Ban student gatherings!/s
it was some kind of OTurnout celebration...and according to the urban dictionary, "turnout" refers to a time where sexual hookups could occur...
a black thing...
I didn’t realize there was such a big rivalry between Ithaca and Cornell!
Someone today said why not remove on unnecessary word and just say “Colored men”.
I’m really surprised that Howard hasn’t stabbed Sheldon by now for always making fun of him for not being a scientist and only having a masters in engineering!
Wry laugh. It’s funny because it’s true.
When I was in school, people did not need to be empowered to be able to attend classes. I guess students then were blessed with agency, and were capable of setting and achieving their own goals without resorting to a chimp out every time more than 10 of them were together at the same time
That would be racist. 😃😀😄😃😇😎😂😅
Ain’t fundamental transformation grand?
