I planted 6 pumpkins plants and got ONE pumpkin.
ONE!!!!
What a waste of garden space.
I had lots of flowers and they were all male flowers. No female ones.
I guess neither of us were destined to become farmers!
I enjoy gardening and love growing stuff to eat fresh but I also thank God that I do not have to survive on what I grow.
Me Too!
Although, I never will have to buy herbs again. They gbrow like weeds...
(wait a minute!)
They ARE weeds! hahaha
I have an herb garden and it’s great to be able to walk outside (almost) any time I want and pick fresh herbs top throw in the spaghetti sauce I’m making from my own homegrown tomatoes and garlic.
Onions are so cheap they are not worth the garden space and besides, I’ve NEVER had any luck growing them.
Basil (four varieties) Rosemary, thyme(three varieties), chives, pearl onions, tarragon, mint, oregano, and parsley, all in containers on my deck just outside my kitchen door!
They go into everything, and, all of a sudden, I am a real good cook! :-)
(I wasn’t)
I have oregano, thyme, lemon thyme, chives, and sage. Those are the perennials.
I plant a new rosemary every year as they cannot survive these winters.
I had some parsley but it didn’t come back or reseed.
Need to do that again.
We didn’t have a very good summer at all. I am glad to finally have some tomatoes to eat, and enjoyed the endive while it lasted and the taters which we still have some.
Pickles from zukes and cukes are canned and will be great this winter.
I used to have some begonias several years ago, but I no longer plant annual flowers. They are very pretty though.
