As Seen on TV - Flex Seal
Posted on 08/26/2016 3:02:10 PM PDT by A Cyrenian
Anyone had any luck using Flex Seal? I'm betting it's no where as good as the guy on tv says it is.
Thought I'd ask to see if anyone has tried it.
I included UFOs as a topic just in case this stuff works in space. HA!

I always wondered what the British used to glue the Mosquito Bombers together. It must have been great.

Flex seal was originally meant as a new type of condom. Just spray it on.

I used it in gutter, did not work

As usual, Consumer Commie Reports does a dishonest test.
When they used it as advertised, it performs as advertised, but they had to throw in some nonsensical uses to downgrade the results.
Why are we not surprised?

Red Gard is used to seal shower pans now in place of rubber membranes. Sold at Home Despot (sic).
Paints on thick, needs to be painted or tiled over—doesn’t hold up to UV.
Works great, though.

Yes I have used it. I had a leak on my roof around the chimney. 5 tubes of caulking later, it still leaked, not as bad but still leaking. I don't think it was one big leak but several small ones. I had the roof replaced about 10 years ago. New flashing, felt, decking, gutters, everything. The leaks started after our 100 year rain (19” in 24 hours) around Easter 2015. I didn't want to have a new roof put on and I was tired of getting up on the roof just to waste another 3 tubes of caulking. Saw the Flex-Seal and figured “Why not?”. Put two coats around the flashing at the base of the chimney - no more leaks. I'm not going to swear by it, but I haven't been up on the roof for 9 months so it worked for me.

Isnt Gorilla Glue toxic to dogs?
Hang on. I'll feed some to my dog and see if she lives.
So far, she just swelled up and white stuff coming out of her nose.
Now, she's rolling around on the floor and acting crazy.

In my store, I sell all the items mentioned so far in this thread; Flex Seal, Gorilla Glue & the uv light pen activated glue. Truth is that I've never tried any of these. I'm posting back to you because of these three items by far the most trusted and worth while product is the Gorilla Glue.
Like I said I've never actually used it, but I have used a number of other Gorilla Glue Company products that are simply outstanding and that I highly recommend. Such as Gorilla Tape. Compared to regular duct tape it's probably 4 or 5 times stronger for about double the cost.
The UV glue seems gimmicky, although I've worked in industrial settings with both UV and anaerobic curables in the past. Gorilla Glue is a polyurethane adhesive and I suspect it is a very good one. But you need to know how to use them and where that adhesive is best suited.
As to shelf life, you're the first complaint I've heard on that and I hear from lot's of folks when something seems wrong. One tip I've been using with success with PVC cement is always store the resealed container upsidedown.

EXACT same experience as you two, using both products.
I try to line up several jobs before opening the tube, because once opened, “use it or lose it.”

I read that the Germans were so impressed with the Mosquito Bomber that they tried to use wood as an aircraft material too.
Their planes kept coming apart in the air. They never could get the glue right.
