Why the alt-right isn’t wrong (Clinton anti alt-right speech this Thurs)
The Spectator UK ^ | July 30, 2016 | James Delingpole

To help you understand what’s going on, I’d like you to cast your minds back to the Eighties and the era of ‘political correctness gone mad’. At the time, we thought it was so loopy it would disappear up its own bottom. Instead, it continued to get worse and worse, leading to lunacies like the nursery schools in Oxfordshire teaching kids to sing about ‘Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep’, and thence to nonsense like the ‘safe spaces’ promoted on university campuses for a generation of special snowflakes, as well as to vexatious campaigns like the one conducted at Oxford by anti-white race hustlers known as Rhodes Must Fall.

Yes, to some it might seem a joke but to the kids who have to live in this oppressive environment — as Brendan himself knows, having written about the Stepford Students in The Spectator — it’s horribly real. Young white straight males suffer especially: the moment they arrive on campus they are treated like potential rapists; in lectures they’re harangued by Marxist professors on their ‘white privilege’, as if all ills in the world from the abuse of women to racism are somehow their fault. And the conservatives who should have been fighting their corner just haven’t been up to the job because of the fatal weakness so many on the right have: a secret terror that they’re as nasty as the left claims they are.

For years, from America to Europe to Australia, on a whole range of social issues from the environment to gay marriage to multiculturalism, diversity and gender, mainstream conservatism has far too eagerly conceded territory to the progressive opposition in order to demonstrate its caring, fluffy side. Even when conservative administrations have been in office they have failed to arrest the leftwards drift of the culture.

I base this guesstimate upon the FACT that before now Alt-Right has not leaked significantly into the broader culture. I may be a dinosaur, but I am on the internet a lot (though not on the sites you specified) and I have barely even seen reference to Alt-Right before tonight. Ok, so I am a dinosaur, but I do not think there are vast numbers of Alt-Right people out there (yet). Maybe 100,000, more or less??

Yep. Chalk me up with the dinosaurs too. Alt-Right? Never heard of such a thing.

Is Hillary just re-branding the "Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy" canard?

Vote Trump!

Yep, Shrillary wants to stir the pot in a big way. She is going to try to provoke extreme reactions so she can attribute everything to Trump..... then the Mediascum will sit around clucking that Trump is the cause of all the trouble etc.

I think Shrillary is just updating the VRWC for the new era. When confronted with extensive Clintonista misdeeds, she attacks and smears, tries to change the entire public discussion to criticisms of her accusers etc. The Mediascum is happy to play her game.

FR is not alt-right.

Correct.

I’m sure some are here.

Incorrect. If alt-Right is supposedly characterized by anti-Semitic views, then you sure as Hell won't find any in this community.

This community is extremely averse to anti-Semitic sentiment.

The membership of this site is unabashedly and overwhelmingly pro-Israel, indeed Zionist, and will hardly even tolerate the mildest criticisms of Israeli policy.

My point is, there isn't any anti-Semitism lurking around FR, and I'm very happy about that. If that's alt-right's "gig", then they're nothing but a boogeyman for Hillary to harp about.

Thanks for the heads up on the haters. I'll now notice if I ever see that sort of thing used (triple parens). I can't recall ever seeing it in all of my internet travels, and they are many.

Vote Trump!
